I call him a kid because he's 20 years younger than me. He's hired a Spanish speaking individual to sell to the Mexicans. I guess the Mexicans don't like to buy tools if they can't communicate with the seller.

So they drive around to shops and one guy talks to the english speakers and the other guy talks to the Spanish speakers. Sales are up! Snappy kid said it was the best decision he's ever made:eyecrazy:

Your Snap On guy is just being a smart businessman. Politics aside the fact of the matter is that there is a large and growing population of Spanish-speaking people working in this country and if you can talk to them and sell them something that's good business. Isn't that the American way?

Thats pretty much over with. The currant crop of "Imports" are not willing to work for Peanuts and they do seek out decient paying jobs.

Most of them own the business or work for relatives. Relatives generally pay other relatives well.

Plus since this is California they can get financial help to open a business easier than I can.

A country is defined by it's borders. Most countries do not have borders as open as ours are. In fact they are too open.
Tree are legal ways to immigrate to most countries and legal ways to enter a country for a visit. People that do not use those legal ways should have no rights

As farm labor it is pretty much set what the want.
10 - 12 dollars an hour
80 hours a week
Free place to stay
Cable tv and long distance phone and a bank that will transfer money back central America.

My opinion is that the american way is to adapt to the american culture and learn english not the other way around. How far do you think mexicans would accomidate me in their country not learning spanish. The reason why they do the low wage jobs is because they don't learn the language and therefore are stuck in an outside sector of our economy. You want to make more money, learn the language and get educated.
Welcome to america, now speak english.
Keep your culture, but speak the language.

The part of who sells to who is interesting.

When my wife first moved to the USA she bought through people from her country of birth. Until one day she came home with another of her great bargains bought through a person from the same country, she did not trust anyone else they would take her.

I had bought the same thing so one had to go back. As we discussed the fact I paid 20% less had a warranty and when examined closely it looked like she had a second. We discussed and found out that she had not been using the best sources to buy from in fact she went out and added it up it was in the thousands extra she had paid. She learned it was OK to take a risk and she would find reputable places to shop.

Most people do not learn what she did. I explained to her about a place in the city called Epstien's as an example. I had stopped in there 15 years before and by their actions they had earned my trust. So I go there because of that trust not because of other reasons. Thank god she caught on it would have been many more thousands down the hill over the last 20 years.

If you want to live in this country you need to immigrate legally, pay taxes, and speak English. If you are not willing to do those things you are not welcome hear as far as I'm concerned.

Technically no, because you will have lawyers up the *** stating it is unconstitutional to say you have to speak English. Until the US adopts English as its official language (which will never happen), English will be the preferred method and all others will be tolerated.

To the original purpose of this thread, the Snap On man has every right to do what is in his best interest. The only way he would be in the wrong is if he is paying under the table.

You really need to read a book or two. The United States of America never declared a national language, as it would infringe upon the beliefs this country was founded on. And for the record i am caucasian and only fluent in english. But i am not ignorant

I worked in a job where the workforce was predominantly Latino, the language was Spanish, unless money was talked about. The illegals, yes, illegals, understood English on payday. I hated it. I despise the apathy that we have given to the situation as a whole. I say pack the illegals up, ship them home and arm guards at the borders. Show your passport or leave. Don't leave, bang. I know it is cruel and intolerant, but this is the ONE thing I am very critical of our nation for. I have literally been laid off while illegal bastards worked. I have been paid labor rate rather than operator's rate due to some illegal sitting in a machine rather than me, even though I am better than he is. It is a case of ********. Do it legally or get the hell out.

Just because we never declared a language doesn't mean we don't speak a common one. Common sense would tell you that language is english.
