Guess what this is?

I plowed this up in a field yesterday. It seems that it stands upright and is bolted to a bench top. I'm guessing it holds some type of bearing for a shaft?

Any ideas? Age?

Perhaps some component from an old overhead line shaft shop, the type run with flat belts in the day, or some old part from some old piece of farm equipment.

That tool you plowed up is the ever elusive Photobucket deleted image box, its OK but the snap-on deleted image box is better.
