Just a little project I did for my guitars. I bought a used armoire for $100, cut out the wood door panels, and replaced them with tempered glass. I made fabric covered, padded interior panels and added hangers and LED lighting.

Nice job on the cabinet bud, that turned out cool. But what's the crazy drill jig all about?

That one's got a forstner bit in it - I've used one of those that way to put 1" dowels into a flat board at an angle for a coat hanger, but I didn't see anything in the pics that looked like that... Steve

That is cool as hell!

Now rig up a switch or a sensor so some schweeeeet heavy rokk lixx play when you open the door. Sort of like angels singing, but with screaming guitars, just to put you in the proper mood.

I love everything here - repurposing a lame old clothing container into something cool, and creating a home for your precious axes.

The hangers typically screw in from underneath, but there wasn't much meat to screw into. And I needed a little more height. So I mounted them so the disc would rest on the top to hold the weight. The hangers curve at about a 55° angle at the top, so I had to shim the jig a bit more.

Did you accomodate for humidity control? I really like the idea of re-purposing an armoire.

Excellent conversion! The guitar hangars are really cool, and there is even storage in the base section. Your design definitely has a cool factor. You could probably make a few dollars on the side by making these custom guitar storage cabinets and selling them.

How are those things? Cheezie made or worth the buy?
Somehow I feel like going angle. Hmmm...

Mine's a General, too plasticky for me. So far not a lot of need, but if that changes I'd look for a more "cast iron-y" one. Took me at least 10 tries to get this one set for 90* when doing the hinge points for my drop-down mezzanine stairs... Steve
