hello All, I've customized my Walker Jack (Roll-A-Car, Big Boy 4 ton) with a Porsche Gulf livery theme. I know it’s not the original factory colors, but I have quite a few items in my garage with Porsche livery themes. Apologies in advance to those who prefer restoring these classic gems to their original specs.
For a massive Jack, this is very low profile, I can easily access My track Porsche Boxster (see third picture).

restoration note:
I completely disassembled the jack, leaving only the hydraulic bottle intact since it was working fine with no leaks. After that, I stripped the paint down to bare metal. For most of the job, I used a Surface Conditioning Tool ( cheap HF) with round drums, which made removing the paint a breeze. For hard-to-reach areas, I used small wire brushes. I then applied a 2K direct-to-metal primer using spray cans, followed by a blue base coat with regular paint cans and finished it off with a matte clear coat.
- Polished all bearing mating surface
- Regreased all bearings using grease gun with all purpose bearing grease. LockNLube Pneumatic Grease Gun is what I have, I used this mainly to grease my VW buses.
- I painted the larger bolt nuts after reassembling the jack to avoid messing up the paint while torquing them

Beautiful. Nothing wrong with how you customized the paint. We need more pictures of the restoration and paint prep. At least a before picture.

Really turned out nice. How did you prep it for paint? Did you use rattle can or automotive paint?

Thanks for sharing

I'm generally one of those fix-the-guts-and-use-it kinda guys, but that is really nice.
I agree with you on the utility aspect. I tend to go a bit overboard with my tools and garage items. Sometimes, I focus so much on making them look nice that I end up being too careful when using them, as I’m more concerned about messing them up :).

You can paint it pink with purple polka-dots if you like.... you just won't get as much action trying to re-sell it to the "purist" collector crowd. Looks pretty fabulous. (y)

Thank you for the comments! I included a "before" picture in the original post along with some restoration notes. I got a little too excited and forgot to take photos at different stages of the restoration. Although I have a high-end automotive HVLP paint system (Maxi-miser PRECISION-6 PRO AUTO HVLP Electric Painting System), I ended up using paint cans since automotive paint can be quite expensive. I'm currently working on painting my 75 VW bus and didn’t want to spend too much on the jack restoration

This turned out so nice and unique, think it would sell for more than one with red factory paint. A lot of work went into making it look this good and it could be changed back later if some really wanted a red one. Just like painting factory wheels with another color.

Love it ,
I had a long jack like that years ago that worked great to lift up a VW bug to pull the engine ,
I used a regular jack to pull the engine from under the car , but the long jack raised the bug tall enough to just roll the motor back and not at an angle.

I approve 100%. I did a Craftsman drill press in the GULF livery colors as best I could manage to match. Paint codes are nearly non-existent.
