Gutter downspout drain pipe: Schedule 40 PVC vs. DWV pvc?

I'm having my flower beds redone here shortly. I decided to catch 3 of my downspouts and put it into pipe to keep the water out of the flower beds. I'll need about 40 feet of pipe. The pipe will be covered with 3-4" of river rock; no traffic to speak of.

Gate City Foundation and Drainage on YT recommends Schedule 40 PVC pipe (vs. corrugated ****) but doesn't mention why not use DWV pipe for low/no traffic areas. Cost difference is about $120 vs. $200.

What say GJ?

I used schedule 40 for the fittings (multiple gutters, deck drains, one way valves) then when I got into the yard switched over to 4" DWV.

I used DWV for collecting from downspouts for a run to the cistern. Most of the run is buried, but of course some of it is exposed. This was about 10 years ago, and the sun has not been kind to it. Severely yellowed and very brittle, and some of it has broken off leaving some of the downspout water to empty next to our foundation - and entering our basement.

I would gladlyl have spent the $80 difference not to have to dig all this back up and replace with the heavier product.

(in another place on our property I used PCV at the same time, and it has shown no ill effects from the sun exposure)

I've used both and only run the heavier stuff where there could be any traffic or if it is exposed at all

If I was a pro, I'd only use the heavy stuff to minimize the risk of call backs.
