I have an 8/12 pitch metal roof, and when the gutter guy came to install the gutters, I asked about the snow coming off my roof and my gutters. He said he installs the gutters 1" below the roof line. Been doing it for 17 years and if mine were damaged, he will come back for free. So far......so good. I've had a lot of snow come sliding off that dark brown roof!
