Searched around for this topic and finally gave up, so here goes.

When I built my shop I had no intentions of putting gutters on it. It is a 36'x50' pole barn with metal trusses and 2x6 wood purlins. Metal siding goes all the way up to the bottom side of the roof metal. Roof panels overhang the eave about 12", so they would have to be cut back.

My question is, how do you attach the gutter to the ribbed metal siding without crushing the gutter? There is a purlin at the eave to attach to, but i'm more concerned about crushing the gutter when tightening the screws down. Surely someone has done this before and has a detail or a picture.

I have talked to some metal building suppliers who sell the type of gutter that hangs on the roof panel, but I'm leaning more towards the seamless route.

The gutters on my barn have an integral flat piece, call it a gutter flashing, that slides under the steel roofing panel, and the typical hidden fasteners with screws that go into the face of the fascia boards.
