No, for a little more money you can buy quality US made ones.
Good deal on the US made screwdriver, that's Menard's house brand, I read somewhere that they were made in Wisconsin or Minnesota.

I think you got a pretty good deal on the wrench set, as for the screwdriver I don't know who the manufacture is but for $6 you did just fine. 
I've been looking for a set of U.S. made ones for a long time, nothing comes even close.

$6 for a US made 2 foot screwdriver seems like a good deal even if it does have a funky tip. Are the letters WF anywhere on the handle? I was wondering if Western Forge made it. I don't have menards out here.

Mernard's web site shows same $49 set in SAE, but click on picture show different packaging than above.

Don't know about the cross-beam/x-beam, but I picked up Armstrong ratcheting wrenches new for not much more.

Don't have all the info off hand (you might be able to make out the part numbers in the pic below), they are not at home, but I bought them off eBay for $50 plus shipping. I have a few different sets, sae and metric, of US made ratcheting wrenches, that's all I could find for pics right now.

Not putting people down or telling them what to do, just sharing my opinion. Must I like Chinese tools? When did championing US made tools become a problem? It's okay to bash Craftsman and other US made tools but not tools from our "friends" in China? Lets all pretend that buying foreign tools is patriotic and good for this country. If someone has a problem with my posts I suggest to you that it's probably their problem not mine. We all know why people buy Chinese tools and it ain't quality. You want support for buying Chinese tools call a Chinaman, never mind he'll probably tell you they're **** as well, try someone else that owns Chinese tools. Misery likes company.

Armstrong does make a US made version of the x/beam as does Craftsman. Armstrongs is called the Maxx Beam and the Craftsman is the Crossforce. They are reversible though. The craftsman set isn't as complete as the Gearwrench set and is double in price.

I think most tool brands regardless of where they're manufactured, get beat up sooner or later here. There is a prejudice toward Chinese made tools here though, no one can deny that. I'll agree that cost is usually the overiding factor for buying an imported tool. However, Gearwrench is putting out some decent PRC made tools. I would have preferred they kept operations in Taiwan though. Give them 10 years though to see if they're good for the long haul.

Also, Mickey - comparing a 7 piece set bought off of ebay to a 12 piece cross-force set bought at an actual store is not exactly fair.

Is that right, lets have a look back at one of my posts in this very thread:
What's negative about? So BWright statement "I don't think I've seen you make a positive post yet." isn't right now is it, in fact it's false and you have agreed with.
Alright, lets go back to another of my posts in this very thread:
So 7 wrenches for $50 would be $7.14 each, 12 - 7 = 5. 5 more wrenches @ $7.14 = $35.70. $50 + $35.70 = $85.70, hence "for a little more money you can buy quality US made ones".
And of course you can't compare the two, one is a quality US made wrench made by US workers, your fellow citizens that need to earn a decent buck to afford to live in this fine country, the other is made by foreign workers in Government subsidized company making ridiculously low wages in a country artificially lower currency values. Don't worry though the money you save is being spent on higher gas prices and new taxes coming soon. And after all that you're still left with inferior tools.

I bought the same set this past weekend, I have one lone 15mm x-beam non ratcheting wrench that I use for changing oil and I love the design.
