Well, just a heads up to the people out there. Went to Costco this weekend, a couple of days after I ordered my Supercoat kit from Sam's, and now Costco has Shield-Crete. I had literally been there earlier in the week and did not see any at that time. On Sat it was next to the remaining Motofloor they had.

Anyway, it is a basic kit with a gallon of color (Pewter was all that I saw), flakes, grit additive, and some sort of cleaner. No glaze coat included, but it was $50 for this kit.

So now I am wondering, if my Supercoat kit doesn't cover all that I need it to (doing about 125sq ft, but I plan to do 2 coats with my 1 kit, going to split it in halves), can I just run and get a kit of this and do my second coat with it. I don't see why not after reading this thread about it: http://www.garagejournal.com/forum/showthread.php?t=11178&highlight=h&c+supercoat

It sure sounds like the same thing.

Since I started the other thread, I will give it a shot at answering your question.

While I 'believe' they are both made by the same company and their instructions appear to be near identical, I don't know that I would take the risk. I would much rather spend the extra $50 (or less) to get the Supercoat.

If they don't bond, you could have a much greater cost involved with trying to fix it.

I'm all for saving money, but without actually talking with someone from Milimar or Cass Polymers (makers of Supercoat), I would probably still play it safe.

Yeah, I guess my only worry is if I don't have enough, I will have to order another kit from Sam's which could take a week or more. From what I have read, it sounds like I should be ok doing such a small section though. Read another thread where slonova got a lot more than stated coverage out of it.

I ordered some supercoat last week. I also asked about the H&C product since the instructions are identical. Here is what I got back...

We manufacture virtually all of our products and are also a manufacturer for certain third party organizations that we cannot disclose. We are not at liberty to discuss similarities with other companies’ documentation or products.

I am going to use the 2 part Industrial top coat vs the glaze coat after talking to a rep.

This week I start my 10x10 room off the garage.... then I will order prob 10 kits ( 2 coats) to do the 40x30 garage.

That's what the rep at my local Sherwin Williams thought too. He's wrong.
