I had thought I would have to go with VCT because of the paint which was (and still is partially) on the floor. It now looks like I will be able to remove it and I wanted to know if anyone has used this product (H&C Silicone Acrylic Concrete Sealer).

If so, please give me your opinion and experience with it on an garage floor. Thanks............Al

I used H&C stain from Sherwin Williams in my garage and covered it with acrylic sealer with the anti-slip additive. If you use a sealer, I highly recommend the anti-slip additive, the floor would be dangerously "slippery when wet" without it. Ours has been down @9 months - so far we are very pleased with the look, and it has held up great.

I recommend NOT using their water based sealer. I used "H & C® Concrete Sealer Wet Look" from Sherwin Williams on a seven year old (cured) garage floor-Very Poor Product... Prep included acid etch, rinsing and drying in summer conditions. Two coats of the sealer at $45/gallon and it still spots within a minute, soaking through with water or petroleum solvents. I live in northern Michigan- lots of melting snow, salt and road crud in the garage, not to mention normal shop chemicals (min spirits, gasoline). The product does not seal period. Looks good when dry, absolutely worthless as a sealer, and the floor will be stained with winter crud come spring. I'd love a refund of time and cash. Stick to solvent or epoxy based products!

You did not use the correct product for a garage floor. H&C wet look is not recommended for a garage floor. You will note that garage floors are not listed as one of the places to use this product.

Where to Use

Patios
Lanais
Driveways/walkways

It's good to know the difference between their products... I have read many good comments on HC acrylic concrete sealer. I have bought it many years ago but still didn't have time to do the job. I had change my mind than instead of the sealer, I wanted the Allure vinyle planks with diamonds design and I recently change my idea again. I just paint the walls with the sealer and I really like the color. It's a nice yellow. So, I think I will put it on the floor too and keep the Allure in my play room in the basement. The fact is that I'm afraid with the Allure for the darkness of the color and also because it's not smooth so all my roller stuff will be hard... what do you think?
