Haas Garage Doors

Well I am Finishing up a build for my custom home which includes a three car attached garage (16x8 and 9x8 doors). I've been looking around at local garage door installers and seem to get numbers all over the board. Even for doors of the same brand but different installer. My wife wanted a carriage style door to match our country looking house since we went with stand and seem metal roof I agree that a carriage door would suite the house nicely. It seems a lot of Local guys use the Amarr brand of door including the big box stores. When looking at the Amarr we were considering the Carriage Court series and the Classica in either 2000 or 3000 series which has the insulation. I liked the look of the Carriage Court over the Classica but couldn't see paying more for a door with less R value then the 3000 Series door at a cheaper price. One of the installers insisted I come to their showroom and take a look at some of the options they have (have around 20 doors in their showroom). When I got there they showed me some of the Amarr's I was looking at as well as a HAAS American Tradition Series door which looks like the Amarr Carriage Court but has a higher R value and is cheaper. The Amarr Classica door looked very cheapo with the carriage styling steal stamped into the door. After talking to them back and forth I gave them 1/2 the money down and scheduled for them to come out and "measure" my home and order the doors. I haven't had to much experience with a garage door since I have never been in the market for them and hope I made the right decision. I also went with a simple belt drive motor from Marantec which they recommended instead of the Liftmaster 8550 with all the bells and whistles because I didn't feel I would need them with the added extra cost. Has anyone here had experience with HAAS doors or Marantec openers? It seems like a quality made product but trying to see what anyone's experience with them might be. Just home I made the right decision.

My local dealer carried Haas. They not only had a great R value, and a couple of other features I liked, but they cut me a heck of a deal. Mine aren't as pretty as yours will be, I've been very happy with them.

I just recently ordered two 8x8 Haas doors. I went with the 2000 series (2" door with r value of 17.66, supposedly their best door) with two high lift tracks and two 8500 liftmasters. Just plain white, doors like above is what I ordered.

I thought I got a great deal at $3k I stalled with the gateway and outside pads. The Clopay dealer wanted more for less. A lot less. Mine go in next weekend, so I'll report back with pics.

I installed two 12' x 10' Haas doors in my new garage and replaced two 9' x 7' doors in the old garage with Haas doors. Having seen many manufacturers and styles come & go through the years, I chose the Haas doors because they use conventional hinges and hardware which has been around for years & years.

Well they came out the other day to do field measurements and says 2-3weeks and I should have a set of garage doors. I must say in their "showroom" I was impressed with the Haas brand door. I was even more impressed that my wife like the look of the and they were actually the cheaper option. I'm still up In the air over the Marantec opener. Some if the other guys quoted the lift master brand with all the bells and wifi goodies But I don't think I would get all the use out of them. And it just seems like more to go wrong.

I'll keep everyone posted after they get installed.

You will be much much happier with the LiftMaster operator over the Marantec. When we get a call to work on a Marantec, we just bid the customer a new opener- a LiftMaster.

The LiftMaster may have all the bells and whistles, which really aren't practical to most, but it is by far the best brand of opener out there. You will always be able to get parts for it, for example, parts are still readily available for openers made all the way back to 93. I will say not much has changed as far as the guts of it are concerned, but things like keypads and hand controls can still be bought.

The only thing I like about the Marantec is that they fill up the scrap trailer.

Well I had the doors installed back in Mid May and have finally moved into my house in the end of may so I've been pretty busy. But overall I like the doors I chose and the marantec openers have been nice so far. The only complaint I have with the openers is the LED light on the motor isn't very bright. I may see if there is a AUX light I can wire up to the motor to kick on as well. I tried to attach a picture of the installed doors but not sure if its going to work. The young fellow in the picture is a buddy of mines son who is 3 years old and a true fighter, he's been fighting cancer for a year now.
