Had a pleasant surprise today

I had an old Craftsman 1/4” drive ratchet that is probably close to 50 years old. It needed a repair kit so I completed the warranty claim on line last Monday and submitted it. The next day a nice lady emailed me back and asked for a picture of the ratchet. I took a cellphone picture and replied back to her. Later that day she emailed and said that ratchet was an old one sold by Sears and there were no parts available but she said she would be sending me a new replacement via UPS.
Today, Friday, I received a package with not one, but two black chrome 1/4” drive ratchets. Of course they are not made in the USA but in Taiwan but at least I received a replacement.

I received a box of 4.5" cutoff wheels from Benchmark after sending them a picture of the ones I had with glue and abrasives in the arbor bore.

I haven't kept up with this. but, it used to be made in Taiwan was a rank above made in China. If it matters.

Now if that was me with my Nikon camera, it would've taken me a half a day to get a clear enough picture to send to the lady.

Maybe I'll try submitting a warranty again. Last (and only) one I did got no response.

I googled Craftsman tool warranty and shifted through a couple pages to find a fillable form. I followed the instructions, added the part number and submitted it. It took longer to find the form and walk to the garage to get the old ratchet than it did to complete it.. I got an email right away saying they had received it and would be in touch.

I have an old Craftsman 1/2" ratchet that is no longer ratcheting. Tossed it in the Goodwill pile, too many other options out there now.

I wish I would have bought all the ratchet rebuild kits they used to have hanging on the pegboard.....a penny a piece.
