Anyone familiar with the older style H991CT fixtures ? Ive got a little problem and I cant figure out how to fix it. A bulb broke in one of these fixtures. The glass part of the bulb seperated from the part that screws into the socket. Just fell to the floor. I had to get the part that screws into the socket out by turning it with a pair of needlenose pliers. Now the socket itself has loosened up. I bought another one from HD and took it apart so I could see whats wrong with the one in my ceiling. It looks like the screw just came loose. The problem is the one I got at HD is newer and the sleeve with the bulb socket just slides out with a little tug. The one in my ceiling looks similar but the sleeve wont come out. Unless Im missing something. Is there a trick to getting these out ??? I really dont want to tear the ceiling apart to fix the stupid thing. I mean its only a loose screw !!!

You should be able to remove the can from the frame in the ceiling without making a mess. There are some screws on the side or they could be wing nuts or something similar. That will let you remove the can and gain access to it. I would think it was riveted originally not screwed.

Good luck!

Thanks for the reply but the can doesnt have any screws or wingnuts. I know the larger diameter fixtures have the arm with the wingnut so you can move the socket up and down but the smaller ones are different. Ive tried to pull the sleeve straight down but it wont budge. The newer ones are real easy. I might call the company on Monday.
