I want to replace these 200,000 candle power (only know this from owners manual) halogen lights with 30-watt LED cubes and would love to know the wattage of the halogens.

Any ideas? I didn’t pull the bulb but couldn’t see any identifier on it.

Thanks

Hard to say without a bulb number. I would guess anywhere from 35 -55 or 60 aatts, but that is just a guess based on what most of the bulbs that I see

Nice, thank you. I’m honestly just trying to confirm that the 30watt I’m installing draw less and therefore the existing electrical is fine to connect to as is.

You should be fine. Most led bulb/light wattage ratings are inaccurate because they just use the max wattage of each led and add them up. In reality they are cosume much less current than the marketing and packaging indicate.

you could measure the current drawn and the voltage applied, that would give you Volt Amps which, if I remember correctly, is the equivalent of Watts.

The bulbs are H3 which were commonly used in that kind of light which had a very shallow depth and so no space for the more common inline connectors. H3 connector (standard 6.5mm blade) was on the end of a short length of wire. Standard wattage for H3 bulbs was 55 watts.
