HAMB alliance discounts on GJ?

I know there is a mention on the garage journal alliance page about being able to use the GJ alliance for discounts through HAMB vendors, but does a HAMB alliance work for discounts through Garage journal vendors?

Specifically, I have a HAMB alliance and was looking at some hammers from Trusty Cook, but Richard the GJ rep wasn't sure how it would work
