Best brand?Snap on?Martin?
You just named two very good brands, stay away from the cheaper sets as they chip and the dollies tend to be porous.

You have some euro options as well, picard comes to mind.

Cant go wrong with either

Epstein's has a ton of that stuff right now and have had for a while. Though I can't remember the brand name. Closeouts all made in USA

I don't remember the manufacturer, but I bought a really nice set at NAPA. Hickory hammer handles, nice smooth mirror-finish on the hammer faces and the dollies. They even come in a fitted plastic case so when you aren't using it all the pieces stay together and are protected.

all the body hammers and dolly i have were basically thrown away by a co worker.
( he bought a bunch of stuff at an estate sale, took what he wanted and tossed the rest of the tools in the scrap bin)

most of the stuff was rusted, i cleaned everything up, a couple SO and martin hammers, and a some dollar store quality stuff.

the cheap stuff hasnt been the best, broken heads, loose handles, the SO and martin stuff has been solid and well balanced.

i'm no body man by any means, most of my body work involved a sledgehammer :scared:

I have heard good thinds about the martin hammers and dollies but i have only used snap on and matco. I personally like the matco. Invest in a rubber dolly for using with shrinking hammers so you dont dull the spiked face of a shrinking hammer

If you're working on old cars these are valuable tools. If your working on Y2K and newer vehicles they have limited value as the sheet metal is so thin you really can't work it very much. Also the high strength steel isn't fond of hammer and dolly techniques.
