I've had them both ways, and I like it MUCH better up on peg board. When you're deciding on which hammer to use, you're usually in a hurry. So if the right one isn't in reach, you'll just hit harder with a too-small one or tap lightly with one that's too big. This is fine, really -- but if you've got the option to hang them up, you'll find yourself reaching for the right one much more often.

Your mileage may vary.

I couldn't bear the thought of putting a claw hammer in my toolbox. It would keep me up at night. Buddy kept one in his box, have him so much **** he bought a snap on one. Still have him ****. And never let him see me use it lol. I can't hit a nail with a ball pien either.

Who cares if you have a claw hammer in your toolbox. Not everyone on here is showing pics of their "car dealership" boxes where a claw hammer wouldn't make sense.

Here Here!

Few drawers above there are woodworking chisels along side cold chisels. Hell. Might even have a masonry chisel in there. Sacrilege?

This used to be in the bottom drawer of my toolbox, but it was a tough fit. Now I just hide it behind the toolbox. 17lbs of awesomeness...originally made as a joke, used today for a little persuasion on a stuck fitting.

Exactly. According to the claw hammer comment I guess i should take my staple gun out of my tool box because u can't use that on a car.....
My tool box is exactly that....a toolbox. If I want to put crayons and a coloring book inside I will!!
It's not a "car tools only" storage contraption and all other tools will be towed type deal

That's nice, esp. with the big vise on top. Would be convenient with a forge and/or anvil nearby as well. I think I may use your idea. Not all hammers need to be in the same place, but mine are all in a couple of 5-gallon buckets right now and I always use the first one I can grab. Not always the right one.

I know this isn't what the thread is about but I am so into Lil' Doc's hammer storage system that I couldn't resist...

For those with space constraints:

Dear bb max

I hope my revised hammer drawer meets your approval. If not, please tell me how many hatchets I may have in my hammer drawer. I thought I was practicing proper tool storage etiquette, I'm so sorry. Maybe you don't know this but you actually can hammer with a hatchet.

Here you go, smartass:
