Here is my very modest collection.

Claw hammers are Estwing, True Temper, Malco, and Stanley.
Ball peen hammers are Vaughan (the 2 blue ones), Blue Point, True Temper, and the rest unmarked.
The hammer with the red head is a Ridgid. I think it cost me 2 bucks at a garage sale :)
I really like the blue tack hammer, got it a few weeks ago from Harry Epstein. They special ordered it from Vaughan for me.
The staple gun and 'rocket' claw hammer were given to me by my grandpa so they have special significance to me.

Oh great now you are showing me some more hammers that I do not own...I met some guy in a trailer park a night or two ago just too get my fix of hammers darn now I know how guys get hooked.

Hi Jeff, I saw your other GS post first, and was thinking it was a body hammer of some sort, but that looks like a nail head notch on the back side?

I'd say tack hammer for re-upholstery work, as that would be when you also need the ability to pull the tacks. Any makers marks?

I need to do some pics of my estate sale haul from this AM. Big wind and rain storm here, but that one and a block sale still stuck it out. weird... :dunno:

Here are my 2 finds for the weekend. One is a Bonney ball peen, maybe 12oz and the other is an unmarked, nickel plated guy that was cleaned throughly before being photographed.

I have no idea its purpose but it is quite old and i thought the wire handle was neat. I think the whole thing weighs 4 oz so its a pretty small head. It measures 1 3/4" and the handle is 7 3/4" long.

The this is part of my claw hammer collection. I saw a board that hung on the wall with C H on it and I started to collect them. Their was a guy in Mo that had a big collection in its own building. Does any one know him.

No marks on the handle...yes that is a notch so maybe you're on to something with the upholstery! Whatever the case, I am glad to have it in the collection!!

I'd guess your wire handled job is probably a 1 oz. I compared my 1 oz to a 12 and it's about proportional. Nice find! I like the knurling!

Heh, I'm guessing that Bonny has been re-handled... (upside down markings...)

Nice collection of claw hammers (with a couple of others mixed in) Looks like you have a couple of oldies in there.

That one came from a house with a garage that had many well used tools. In fact, the face of that hammer has a rather large chip out on the outer edge. I'm not gonna fix that but i might switch the handle out so Bonney reads correctly.

The tiny hammer will go into my early 40's Snap on tool chest of old tools i'm collecting since i discovered this site and alloy artifacts. If i ever decide to become an elf toymaker, i'll at least have a hammer to use:bounce:

I don't name tools or cars (other than short' names; Zook for Suzuki, etc.).. I have a hard enough time remembering peoples names, I ain't going to add to the burden!

My son did name the cross peen at the top of this page though: "Dad's hammer"

Here's the Channellock ball pein I picked up today.
If this thing was ever used , it was very lightly used and it has its original paint and sticker on the handle.

Here is my hammer drawer from some time ago. It gets the job done.

I just like to say that in the world of deadblow hammers, it seems to me that Nupla gets no love in these parts. My nupla 2 lb with one steel face is my go to tool for smacking things. Good bang for the buck and can not be beat for the price, and is made in in the good old USA. and for that matter am very happy with all nupla products, deadblow, ball peen and regular old ripping hammer.
Carry on, nothing to see here.

I made a new handle for my liitle curved claw head. I made it out of oak,as that's all that I had. I used my tack hammer to get a rough trace and cut it on the bandsaw.

I put the handle on it and then I bead blasted the rusty head. I added some black POR15 which should last for a long time.

Lastly, I added some stain to the handle and set it down to dry.

It's small as those are 6" squares. I used to use it to close paint canstill the handle broke. I now have a rubber mallet for that so I doubt that it will get much use.

Ordered a couple handles from Harry Epstein and cleaned up the hammer head really nicely at work with the angle grinder/roloc pads. Pictures to follow when the handles arrive!

True , replacement handles can be tough.
Menards , True Value , and here in Illinois there is Rural King a farm supply store that is on par with Blains Farm&Fleet. I've looked over the selection at all of these places and pickings can be slim. It can be tough finding one that's "close". I've almost purchased cheapo hammers with decent handles to take the head off and use the handle. Sometimes they are cheaper than bare handles.

the ace down the street is the 1st place I go for anything.I support local bizness, + I know the owner. cleaned him out last year of small handles.. keep forgetting to ask wtf.
I still have a couple of small ball peens to repair
