I use a combination of dish soap and granulated laundry detergent. If no laundry soap honestly i usually just use dish soap and go out to my back yard and grab a handful of dirt and works just great.

My favorite is also the ZEP cherry bomb, which I think is the same thing as their normal green stuff but smells awesome. Another favorite that's probably easier for the average jo to find is fast orange. Not quite as good at cleaning, but I love how fast and totally it rinses off. I also like boraxo.

The snapon gold stuff is very powerful and would be great for occasional use on super filthy black hands, but it's really harsh and tears your hands up too much for daily use imo.

I have a jug of Boraxo in the garage.
A couple GoJo bottles in the kitchen.
And of course, Dawn dish soap.

If I'm doing really nasty work, I'll use the Boraxo and the garden hose to wash my hands before going inside and finishing up with Dawn. But 80% of the time, Dawn is all it takes...

I have man hands and don't care if they look dirty. As long as I don't get grease stains on the food I touch...I'm fine with it

I use Super Soap. Doesn't dry my hands out nearly as much as anything else and it comes in 5lb tubs. Any bike shop can get the stuff (it's also sold as Phil Wood soap)
