Hey guys, been a long time, between work, a growing family, etc etc... Looking a bit of info, I just picked up this handheld wheel. Tube frame obviously, the brackets appear to be brass..No other info other than a patent pending number of 1273 on it...Anyone have any leads? I did look up the patent number...nothing yet. Any leads are greatly appreciated!!!!

I have a similar item, with brass rollers. I have had it for almost 50 years. At the time I acquired it, I was told by antique auto experts that it was intended to roll small dents from fenders of pre-WWII autos.

Those were made for the intent to remove dings and dents from the older cars fender.
Think model T and into the 30s cars where the fender had no liner or inner fender so they were prone to rock dents from the inside

Lots of info on those has come up on metalmeet

Not sure what this means. Patents that are pending usually have no numbers assigned to them. If you post a photo of the marking we might be able to help ID it.

I actually already found the info on it, thank you though. It literally is stamped what I typed out. Only thing I can think of is the 1273 is the part number.

the patent was applied for in 1939 by Vernon Robbins and approved in 1944.
actual patent number is US2352009A

It was manufactured by Magic Tools under the name Erase a Dent

Goal is to clean it up and put it to use straightening metal. Itll be a nice compliment to my hand held planishing hammers and collection of body hammers and dollies
