Nice, I can't "write" that nice with a pencil and eraser with a gun to my head 😝.
Signpainting is so different than using a pen or pencil that I don't think 'nice handwriting' is really any indication of potential signpainting ability (with TONS of practice of course!) My own handwriting is not very consistent and CAN be pretty bad! I have to slow down and concentrate to write with a pen legibly. My mom's writing, OTOH, was always perfect and the same, day after day, year after year----don't think I've ever seen such nice handwriting, to be honest, but I did not inherit her handwriting skill!

Got any in progress pictures?
Or are you one of rare one's that just goes slow with no help?
I can tell it's not a stencil job, love how all the "e's" are different, so just go slow with some spacers hints?

You could be right. But I believe people with a natural flow find it easier to draw and for that matter have better penmanship/artistry skills. From what I have heard cursive writing is not even taught any longer in the school systems. Too a lesser degree spelling thanks due to keyboarding and auto correction. Many here likely remember the time spent learning how to write and the good old spelling bees.

I bet it is a lot more practice than a "gift".
This is true. Some people MAY have more of whatever gift it is that makes some people creative or artisitic, but it still needs to be practiced and studied a lot before it can be done decently!

Here’s mine. Hand lettered by a Master.
Post a close-up of the lettering. Looks good. Lettering a rough surface like the beater race car pic I posted never looks as smooth and was just done in a quick 'knock-out' script. On a nice vehicle with clean, smooth metal, it goes better!

I bought a 1973 Satellite Sebring that was about a year old. The dealer had the Sundance paint added prior to my purchase. I didn’t realize the paint hadn’t cured fully. I just about crapped my pants when the wand wash took out some of the graphics. They sent me to the sign painter who did the original job. I was just in awe watching him cut back in the graphics freehand. I let it fully cure before I did the wash again. Don’t know how it faired in the end I totalled the car about 6 months later. 👳‍♂️

Here ya go. Maurice the painter and I tried a couple different styles and I liked this one the most.
He is a lifelong friend of the family and when I was growing up I always hoped I could someday have him paint something for me. I just love this gift from him.

That's a great story. Must feel good to see it every time you get in the truck
