Just destroyed an el cheapo one and I have rotors to change

I did a quick look around and this seems like a solid replacement that will outlive me and my boy can have it when I croak.

Lisle is best that is easily had from most stores

But like others have said koken or snap on are a lot better and hold up the best compared to the lisle

I also like the Matco driver but unsure of oe manufacturer thou

Had/(have? unsure where the heck it is...) a Klein, about 80 bucks 15 years ago.
Worked great. Looked for it a month or so ago...
Think the monster that lives under my workbench snuck out and ate it.

I used a cheap import one for years till it died, then bought one off the Matco truck. I only bought the driver as my socket and bits for the import one are still in great shape.

the craftman one haven't failed me yet.... but I got that long time ago 10+ yrs ...

I have a very nice MAC one I got off the truck as a set with some cold chisels and a handle. Not sure the exact brand.

I have the Proto in the subject post. It works well, and the bits have held up well. It's seen a lot of use in a lobster distribution facility, removing a lot of rusted fasteners that should have been stainless or silicon bronze in the first place.

I think I paid $60 or $70 at Grainger. That price on Amazon is a good deal.

I have a powerfist one that was like 20 bucks with bits and it works for me. I have had my eye on that proto but i will wait till i have more use for it.

Lisle is ok. Doesn't hit nearly as hard as the SO one. I have the Lisle one and occasionally have to borrow my coworker's SO one. Honestly though you can drill the head off the screw and move on with life.

I still have the one I picked up when I was 18 in the early 80's. It is an import branded "Buffalo". The set came in a blue metal box that was offered under several brand names all over the place back then.

Last summer I picked up a nice kit made by K-D for cheap at an estate sale, but I haven't needed to use it yet.

Me too, in the 90s. My boss at the time had a Snap On version, there really was no comparison. Like bringing a knife to a gun fight.

I also have the Sears Craftsman version, which I purchased about five years ago. It was reasonably priced and gets the job done!

I have the 2905, and it works!!!

Warranty --- Send them an email photo of the broken tool, and they'll FedEx you a replacement...

Craftsman USA 1/2" bought new ~10 years ago, my go to, bits are eh, get apex
Lisle 3/8" bought used, nice but doesn't hit as hard as the Craftsman
Snap on 1/2" got used, works good, different body style.
Proto 3/8" also bought used, works good, hits harder than the lisle, not as hard as craftsman or snap on.

Seeing as how modern craftsman is probably china, I might check out that Koken.

Just curious if the body is larger on the 1/2" drive ones vs. the 3/8" ones? In other words, is there a design reason the bigger drive ones hit harder. I also have the craftsman 1/2 & lisle 3/8. They are pretty much identical except the head. I've never used the lisle so I can't compare performance. A buddy gave it to me when he got a so & I just use the case. I use the cm all the time & have never broken a bit. Lisle sits at home in case I need one there.
