Hi,

I'm looking for a hand rivet gun, something USA made or European - German etc etc.

I searched here and found a few posts about this but generally the older USA made stuff is now China.

Another post gave info about Gesipa riveters made in Germany but i only found 1 negative review about them.

Any ideas ?

I do a lot of rivets.

By hand power: Marson, but if room and bigger rivets, Marson Big Daddy (I started with the Astro 1426 and NEVER had a problem...lots of bang for buck) I like the 2 handed ones. Only use single hand if there's limited room.

By hand hydraulic power: Huck HK150N -My most used. Think it's 5500 lbs of force from like 8 pumps. (Also Gregory Hydraulics version or several others)

Pneudraulic: Huck AK175A is super awesome. 2nd most used.

Big Pneudralic: Huck, Cherry, Gage Bilt, (mainly grab for large steel rivets)

And don't buy cheap rivets from HF or whatever. They kink, don't pull right, stick in gun. You can buy quality rivets (cherry, POP, etc) from ebay and Aerospace stores all day long for cheap. Or buy old new stock at estate sales like me. :)

What Dave said. The marson kit is pretty much a standard and re branded by a number of people including (I'm pretty sure) snap on.

Pneumatic pop riveters are awesome, just be warned if you are anything like me, once you get one, everything in sight will seem to need a rivet. Especially when coupled with a small 1/4 or 3/8 air drill. :lol:I have a POP brand, bought used of course.

No kidding. I stumbled into a Marson pneumatic at a pawn shop for $45 and now everything needs a rivet--or four! :rocker:

Another vote for the Marson, we have a Big Daddy at work that is a shop tool (everyone uses) and it gets used and abused and still keeps on going.

Just to follow up on this i bought a Gesipa NTX-F riveter, made in Germany.

I shall follow up when it arrives with some more info.

Just an FYI but Gesipa only have manufacturing facilities in Germany, the UK and the USA!

I've got an Allied tools rivet kit that I bought from Sams club in 89 that's still going strong today. I used it just yesterday and thought, I can't believe this thing is still holding up.

I have 2 big daddys. The new one and an old one. The old one has that hammered speckled light green paint but has raised lettering cast into it saying Marson Big Daddy

Looking forward to pics, any special reason you went with this brand other than CoO?
Motoretro

I did some research, the NTX-F has steel inserts in it and an eject system for the used rivet. So that was good but out of everything it was the only not made in a china sweat shop option.

Thanks Dave.

It looks like mid 90s move to Taiwan. I am going to save some searches on Ebay, and pick one up. I need one to do over 3/16. Any thoughts on the extended nose piece model Dave?
