Handle for drill

I have Milwaukee drill model 2801-20. Can any recommend a compatible handle that I can use for it. Milwaukee doesn’t make one for that specific drill

Are you referring to the side handle? Is there a threaded hole for a handle? If there is what is the thread size?

Yes I'm referring to a side handle. The drill doesn't have a threaded hole It would need something that's wraps around it I guess. no side handle was manufactured for this tool so I need an adequate substitute.

You may have to fabricate an adapter that can be attached to the drill. Something on the order of a floor flange held on to the drill with hose clamps.

Looking at pictures of it I dont see any way to use a wrap around type. Could you drill and tap the metal housing for a handle ? I wonder if they did not include the capbility for a reason ? Maybe the real capacity of the drill does not warrant it ?

what is the OD of the shaft the handle clamps to? . I have some of those type of handles kicking around

Billk I think your correct it's not a heavy duty drill. I use it to drill holes for spotlights into sheet rock and I'm looking for a handle the can wrap around it for a little more control.

Can you use a strap wrench to come up with something? Maybe use that with zipties and/or tape and/or wire, etc. to get a firm grip on your drill housing.

What I'm really looking for is a handle made for another product that I can use for the drill that I have. But I agree maybe a more creative solution is in order

I can't think of anything that would clamp to your drill well, without at least some modification. If you have the tools/ability to do some customization yourself, I'm wondering if another Milwaukee handle (like the one shown below) might be able to be ground down to make it grab across the top two clutch housing screws that each protrude out from the housing. I don't think the clamp handle structure has enough meat to reach and also grab the bottom clutch housing screws, but if it can that would make the mount stronger. It would require some reshaping and modification of the stock handle mount, but it shouldn't require any modifications to the drill itself. That's the only solution I can think of that might be relatively easy to make, that would be easily removable, and also easily switched to either side of the drill as needed. I'm not sure you would be able to get the handle mount out of the way of that black top switch (speed selector?) on your drill though. It could also create a situation where the top of your drill frame might break easily if the drill was ever dropped with the handle mounted on it. If you can make the clamp grab anything other than just the top two clutch screws that would reduce the chance of drop breakage.

If you don't want to do any modifications at all, there's a chance the stock handle notches (on the handle I linked to) might work to pinch and grab your top two clutch housing screws as-is, but if it did work that would place the handle an inch or two up above the top of your drill which might get in the way while using the drill.
