Yes, I said wheel and not reel. I want to mount a car wheel on the outside of my house to wrap my garden hose around. Usually when I have a project I can map out every detail in my head, but for the life of me I'm drawing a blank right now. Please help me figure out what I need to do.

Pictures/drawings would be a great help. The wheel is a standard 15"x7" 5-lug wheel.

Lag screw the wheel to a 4x4 post and bury the post in the ground. That way you're not putting holes in your house if you decide to move the hose.

I'll be next door to a HF on Friday too! Better sort through some coupons and make a list tonight.

If I just run the bolts through the wall to the inside of the garage will it hold the weight or should I get one side to line up with a stud and mount with lag bolts?

They make nice reels for air hoses too! I've been using an old MGB wire wheel for my air hoses for about 10 years now...

I used the HF trailer mount with pretty good success. The bolts that come with the kit are only 4.5" long, so I sourced a set of 6" bolts to go all the way through the wall.

(sorry for the crappy instagram photos)

Its goes well with my engine block planter.

So you sandwiched the wall between the hanger and the inner plates as if it were mounted on a trailer frame?

Can't say that I've ever seen that done before.

Nice!! I was planning on doing that with one of my Virgos, but it was vetoed :(

Maybe in the garage for air hose, where the neighbors can't see it.

Mine's inside the shop on the end of the paint booth, I simply bolted thru. The trailer spare tire bracket shown above looks like it would work well on the outside of the house..

It was the route with the least amount of fab work, so I went with the flow. I was worried about it holding the weight, since its not on any studs, but I leaned on it and it held strong.

My wife can veto anything she actually uses. She is trying to veto me getting chickens next year. I told her if she did some yard work then we could talk about what she wants in the yard. She knows I'll gladly hear her opinion, but she refuses to touch a tool so the yard and garage are my domains.

If I was putting a long air hose on it I think I would go to the extra effort to make it spin. I was also lucky to have a badly bent Virgo, so it was scrap or this.
