well i have a 18x20 manufactured garage
so its alum siding and sqaure tubing
think it could handle a constant 70 pound weight and then being punched around on?
say if i put it in the corner?

or should i find a tree to hang it on when i want to use it and take it off when im done?

ill try and get pictures of my garage tomorrow to show yall what im working with

I would think one of the supports has to be strong enough to hold . Might want to run a couple 2x4's across if it's made of tin trussed though.

well the sqaure tubing is pretty stout...they left the leftovers for me and my work bench is built from it
i might put it on a tree...mainly since i dont want the bag hitting the siding...itll kill my ears

i have been wondering the exact same thing...i just bought a house with a manufactured garage.. steel frame, tin sides... strength wise, hanging the bag isnt a problem, but the noise... i cant stand the vibrating noise of steel.. in future i will be rebuilding the garage with a timber frame, its much quieter and absorbs the shock, but thats a year or two away..

anyone got any ideas of how to hang it with some shock absortion???

cheers

Why not just weld up a stand for it? I personally have a 100lb banana bag(long heavy bag for thai boxing) hanging from the floor joists in my basement. It does shake the house pretty good when you kick it hard so I would think you would get some pretty good vibrations with the steel building. I wouldn't put it in a corner anyway, then you can't move around the bag and work angles.

They make absorbers for the "shock" but you could make one out of some sort of spring just get one rated for more than the bag weight and add a safety strap.
