I finally got a garage, and am having the same problem finding them. I want to purchase several, FL's just don't work well in the cold here/the color of light output is not what I prefer.

Instead of waisting money for new bulbs....buy some fluorescent lights....the $$ savings alone will pay for them....not to mention that they will last a lot longer.

I looked all over the place couldn't find them either, so I took 3 of the floor floods and mounted above bench, to cold here for fluorescent, It works good, and doesn't bother my radio like the fluorescent did.

Previous owner did the same in my garage. I moved it to my primary bench and in the winter can actually feel the heat on my head. Of course in summer it feels like a heat lamp.

I thought about haning one of these in the center to replace my 300w equivalent CFL for those cold winter days (-11c here today!) http://www.princessauto.com/pal/product/8288508/Worklights/4-ft-Halogen-Shop-Light

Oh, and I have a portable one I use when I need job specific lighting. This also serves to take the chill out of the Outlander (the quad and the person) before a ride.

I use my portable Halogen flood lamps for heating my garage. The rest of the time I use the overhead fluorescents.

anyone have a source for them? I'm still looking. Bought some T8 hanging fixtures with warm bulbs, they're OK, but would still prefer some more halogen...

Halogen lights are a fire hazard.

On my construction sites, we don't allow them because of the risk.

Too many times I've found them knocked over, or left on all night.

I've seen burn marks on hardwood floors, and burnt paper where painter's masking paper got too close.

They are also an injury hazard if the cage gets broken off, which most do.
