Hanging heater wiring.

I just installed a trane hanging heater that I picked up from a friend. I'm not 100% sure about the wiring . Can someone on her help me make sense of what I have ?

Did it come with a fan control center to mount to the box?

Have to find a manual or a sticker on the side with a wiring diagram to make any reliable attempt at startup or repair if you ask me.

Sometimes one has to make their own wiring diagram but it involves tracing every wire and determining where it connects.

No fan control box that I'm aware of. I have an old thermostat and an on off switch . I have found no diagram and trane is less than helpful ..

If you can't find one (assuming you have a model#?) it's probably as old as the wiring looks. Are you confident it's in good working order? Are you 90% sure on the wiring or 0%? We can only wildly guess at looking at a picture of an old used heater. If you have any reservations have a proffesional look at it. They "should" be able to give you a good assesment that it's fit for service, can hook it up, service and clean it for you. I don't even want to know what the extension cord is for. It's Not worth risking your safety or your structure.

Yes the heater is old , I was told it worked great and I trust him 100 % . If it doesn't meet my needs then I will buy a new one at that point .

The cord was there so I could test the fan and the gas valve . I will figure the wiring out as its only 7 wires. It has a high limit switch , fan , gas valve , and one other limit switch that I cant see well due to the cover I haven't completely removed.

I just thought that someone with more experience than me might know off the top of their head where they belonged . It cant be very complicated …..

All safeties, limits and gas valves are wired in series with the T-stat. The fan is wired in series with it's own internal stat, probably the "other limit" you can't see under the cover.

get the model number,check the heat exchanger first,load a few pictures of unit...is there a transformer in the unit 120/24 volt?
