What direction should a overhead heater face in a 24x30? I’m reading 45 degree angle from back corner to center of garage door but if I angle it 45 it aims to the right of the entry door but I also read some people aiming it where they want saying they have no problems maybe I’m overthinking this any help is appreciated

I have one in the home garage and one in the shop, both aimed towards the area I do most of my work in.

I don’t work in front of the main garage door, so I can’t get a grip on why some people suggest aiming the heater at the door.

Assuming all contents (cars, tools, toolboxes, etc) are “desired ambient” temp, opening the garage door should not take long to recover cold air coming in. I’m still using outside combustion air. Hoping the back exterior corner isn’t too chilly in Jan-Feb.

I'd mount it by the vent wall and aim it the long way. maybe in the corner at a 45 degree angle (aim at the opposite corner).

That looks like a long run for horizontal venting. not sue if there's a limit on lenght but I think there is.
I would put the heater at bay 3 where you have the vent exit and face it towards bay 1 , pointed towards the exterior wall

I would LOVE to put it in that back corner. But it’s a 90’s builders add on garage with sloped roof cutting into the space. And I don’t want to blow directly at/on cars on my lift. I’ve stared at my garage layout for months, it’s the only conceivable setup.

Regarding vent length, it will be 13’ unit to exhaust cap. With two 90’s off back of unit my equivalent run is 23’. I believe my local code says 30’ max for horizontal runs without booster fan assistance.

Nasty, sorry to threadjack. Are you shooting air out longways or wideways? If you're shooting out wideways (along the 24' wall), I would 45 from the corner. If you're shooting longways (along the 30' wall) I'd shoot directly parallel with the wall. Either way you should be fine, the use of a ceiling fan to move air will also help.

I'm 28x48 and I put mine in at the mid point blowing 45 across away from my overheads. It will blow towards my workbench and tool area, but I think it'll be fine.

I did not notice in the original post if it a combustion or resistance heater.

Just finished the ceiling mounting of a fan forced electric heater in the center of the garage pointed to where the majority of the heat will be desired.

Because today we got our first winter rain, the heater has not been seriously used.

Your needs and results may vary.

Hey Stop peeking!! yes on all accounts. I'm waiting for Dec 7th the propane man coming to tie into my tank for me,, been using the torpedo and the elc unit,, The 7500watt ele unit is 27000btu. and it just don't cut it. That will be coming down and being put up for sale. The torpedo, will be used till empty, and stored for occasional as needed use. what you don't see is a 34-45-55k propane torpedo!
I've use those 2 for years for winter time oil changes, plow repairs and tire rotations. Looking forward to being able to work longer than an hr or 2 at at time with the new Big Maxx 80

I’ve got a forced air natural gas 60k btu heater I think I’m gonna put in in the back right corner at 45 degrees should be fine but we’ll find out

I've got a 30 x32 garage ended up installing it not at 45 Deg., (long story) but in the back corner blowing down the 32' side. Works just fine.

Position it so the fan blows the longest length of the garage, you'll get better coverage

Find out the heat throw specs and fan size

I have two big overhead doors with a man door between them, so my heater is hanging above the man door aimed toward the center of the back wall. It works great but I was warned to buy a heater with electronic ignition, as one with a standing pilot might have its pilot blow out when the doors are open. No problems for the last 25 years.
