Hanging Miter Saw

I would like some suggestions on hanging up my miter saw on the wall. No holes match up with studs. Anybody have any pics of the way you did it??

Just brainstorming here but you could attach the saw to some metal strap that would reach out to the studs and hang it from some brackets.

If you want to hang for storage, mount the saw to a rectangular piece of MDF or plywood, then cut two strips. Make one strip a french cleat. glue/screw to bottom of the rectangular peiece with a gap in the middle. Then create matching cleat on the wall spanning your studs. The base would also create a good area to clamp the saw to your bench. You could even create some outfeed support if you wanted on the base.

To still use it, a small WALL MOUNTED SHELF with a bit of outfeed support would work. In my book that could be called HANGING on the wall.

I guess it's all in the definition of what we think of as "hanging." To me, upright and ready to use is not hung up. So, your post gave visions of the saw hanging by its base and someone walking up to it and trying to use it.

By the time i finished my post i figured that maybe that was what was so funny.

When i read the OP post, i figured he meant for storage but then thought well maybe hes trying to mount/hang it to the wall with L brackets or something so he can store larger things below.

Guess i should be more specific next time so i don't look like such a tard

I ended up using a 3/4" board with 5" lag bolts drilled through them. I used
3" screws and mounted the board to the studs. I have it hanging about 5 foot off the floor, and I like the placement now.......not on the floor or sitting on the work bench.

You know... a single large nail pounded into a stud to hang it by one foot would have worked just as well... maybe even easier because now you have to line up two holes with their bolts, rather than just one.

hey, don't feel bad! I thought the same thing you did.
I figured he must have meant "hang it on the wall to use," because SURELY it couldn't be looking for a solution simpler than "pound a big nail in the wall and hang it by a foot" or "pegboard is your friend."

Yeah it would have been easier.....if you just want it hanging there looking like ****.
I guess another way to do it is, use a welder and get some good penetration so it would be important to you!!!!

Here is how I did it for under $10. However, mine lines up with the studs behind the slatwall.
