Just finished installing an emergency on/off switch on the rear of my hanging heater. I wanted to install another emergency switch next to my outside door so I could switch it off if necessary without going to the back of my garage getting a ladder, and climbing up. Probably will never use the second switch, but you never know.

Is there any rule of thumb for height requirements for the shut off switch?
I was thinking about installing it about 5 feet high or so, and above my mutligang of light switches. I thought keeping it up and away might stop any inadvertent switch operation.

I don't think there is a certain height to put the switch at, I put my switch around 5 ft and picked up a red emergency gas shut off switch plate for it so it can be seen easily.

I have a switch on the back of my heater and one 30ft away also its a great idea!
