Hanging Propane Heaters ?

I have a 24x40 Shop that has 6" insulation in the celing. The outside walls have 1/2" blue foam sheets and 1/2" Drywall.

I am looking to heat my shop this winter and was looking for the proper size heater before i make the mistake and get one to big and it cycles or the opposite and it runs non stop.

I am going to keep the shop 50-55 deg F when i am not in there and prob bump it up 65-70 deg F when i am in there.

I was looking at the Hot Dawg hanging propane heater because they are not out of my reach as far as money goes.

Any help or advice would be great!

I installed a Hot Dawg 45000 btu nat. gas in my 3 car, so far so good. IT takes the temp from 35-40 to 60 in under an hour, but it is well insulated.

Unit itself was 605, I did the install - materials were probably another 200.

Where are you located? Your walls might need some more insulation to keep it at the temps you are looking for. Getting a larger unit will not hurt. It will just not run as long to keep the temperatures. You will burn more propane of course. A 45K unit should work great.

I agree he definitely needs more insulation on walls. At least add another 1/2". 1" would be well worth the money. I bet you need between 80,000 to 120.000 btu to heat that. Those ceiling hung heaters are really inefficient. The best ones are 80% and some are as low as 60%. I would go radiant or a 90+ furnace
