SafeRacks hanging shelves from Costco

Moving into a new 2-car. I'm a theory of using "up" space, so I was going to fabricate a row of shelves up high around the garage for seldom-used storage. I was thinking 2-foot wide out of 1/2" plywood. Just something to put storage tubs, Christmas tree, coolers etc on.

However then I found these. Probably slightly more expensive than building out of wood, but also already built, presumably weight-rated, and probably look better. Has anyone used these? Anything similar, but better out there? For my use, technically they could be fastened to the wall not ceiling.

I can't post links yet, so sorry:

Those look pretty nice (but expensive) if they wont get in the way of anything. I did what you were originally planning with just plywood and heavy duty angle supports.

My last place had similar shelves with the thick steel angle supports, and I never liked how it cut into the wall space below. My ceiling is not high, so I'm definitely looking at supporting from above, and I'm not positive the best way to do that. Maybe with steel strapping to the ceiling.

I did the same as Saliv8 and used heavy angle brackets, but I had sheets of 1" plywood that's about 22" x 5' that I used. Never a problem. I have the plastic bins with lids for all my wifes decorations on them. You can just see the end of one at the top of the pic.

Comparing the cost of DIY, I found this comparison on Woot. He's comparing the dual-4x8 kit:

Let’s see… (2) 4’x8’ sheets of 1/2" plywood @ $24/ea, (10) 2"x4"x8’ studs @ $3/ea, 72pc box of 3" Spax screws @ $8/box. Total = $86 for (2) 4’x8’ racks. Costs directly off the big orange store’s website.

Potentially it looks like building from wood would be cheaper but I think the steel racks would end up being a better rack. I like how light can come through the wire surface so there aren't as many shadows, and I would want to paint the wood ones, which would take the cost and time factor way up.
