ok Guys dont know if I'm going about this the wrong way. built a small barn 16x36 with 10 ft walls. The roof trusses were free and were a bit worn from sitting outside. so I have a rafter every 2ft. (used em all up... lol )
anyways I'm hurting for storage and I had an idea. we have a bunch of the small storage totes. nothing really heavy. But I was thinking I could use the space between the rafters to store totes 2 high.
I was thinking I could sum it up by saying I would frame in a floating storage floor by hanging it from the rafters. Best way I can think to explain it is, I would be hanging a pallet from the rafters. connected by 2x4's. I could simply slide the totes in and out from the sides.
I guess I'm just concerned because I don't know if this is a good idea or not. Here is a pic of my trusses I would simply connect a 2x4 to the truss nailing across all 3 boards and connect my floor roughly 12 inches below trusses
