I’m wiring in a 40 amp circuit (preexisting in breaker panel) and planning to install a box in the center of the garage near the opener. I would like to have a cord with female plug hang down about 2’ from the ceiling so it’s out of the way but still within reach without a step stool. This placement would allow more flexibility in where the welder gets used. The garage isn’t only used for wrenching and shop work so it won’t be used daily or even weekly in most cases.
Question is how to restrain the wire at the box? Just use a cover with a hole and install a clamp?
