An alternate reality in a parallel universe.
I picked up a few Hansen socket organizers at Sears and proceeded to load them with socket, yet while filling a 3/8" drive organizer with Proto impact sockets they do not fit. The specific problem is that the centers of the pins do not line up with the centers of the sockets when the sockets are next to each other. The 1" and 15/16" do not fit along one another and it only get worse the more sockets you try loading. Anyone else have this problem?

My Craftsman impacts fit fine. I had problems with a couple of the smaller sized chrome deepwells and had to use a dremel to thin down the peg to fit through the socket. But no prob's with the impacts, unless you count Craftsman not punching a hole through the 1/2 in deep one. I did have similar fitment probs with the Harbor Freight trays, that's why I switched to the Hansons.

I have the same problem with my impact sockets. The walls of the sockets are to thick for the holders. So when you start to full the tray up there is not enough room for all the sockets. Nothing you can really do but remove a couple and replace with thin walled impact sockets.

In my experience, Craftsman impacts fit fine on the 1/2 racks (never tried 3/8), but Koken do not work so well for the reason the OP described. I haven't tried any other brands.

my snap-on and cornwell impacts both fit fine on the 1/2 trays, none of the sockets actually touch each other. the only one that ive every had any issue with was the 3/8, its been replaced once and the new one was the same so its just a design problem, not any kind of manufacturing problem.
