If you're patient, Sears.

Sale prices at Sears on these organizers range from $7.50 to $10.

*maybe* MSC Direct if/when they run another 35% off sale, but I'm not sure.

Hmmm...I see the six pieces listed individually on the Sears website. Buying each of them would add up to an $83.94 total, plus shipping. I found a set of six on eBay for about $50, plus $11 shipping. I'm trying to beat that.

Does it have to be Hansen brand, or the Hansen style?

HF has sets of them that go for around $5 on sale. (and since a lot of people have to modify the Hansens, I chose to spend less for something that needs "correcting")

Someone on here posted about the HF version, and mentioned having to modify them because of something to do with the labeled sizes or something like that. I never got the details. Can you comment on the HF pieces?

Also, why do people modify the Hansens?

Bull and anyone else interested......

HF items numbers 95595 3 piece SAE and 95783 3 piece Metric.

The HF ones have a numbering system on them that people don't like (labelmaker takes care of that). I have the 1/2" ones in front of me (only ones handy), the metric goes:6,8,10,11,13,14,16,17,19,20,22,23,25,27,29. It misses labels that are used here (only assume they base theirs on China use) 12mm, 15mm,18mm etc.

Now people have to modify them (at least the Hansen ones) so the sockets fit (issue with some brands). I haven't tried mine yet, because I bought them for impact sockets for home (still need to get).

i just bought the 3/8 and 1/4 SAE and Metric ones at sears yesterday, they fit my craftsman sockets no problem.

Now i need about 20 more sockets to fill the gaps haha.

I bought the HF ones and have a ptoblem fitting some sockets on them. I tried to put my 1/4" metric set on it and the 15 and 16 mm sockets won't fit next to each other. I don't think i'm going to keep them. I hope the Hansens are better.

Hansens don't go up to 16mm for the 1/4" sockets. They stop at 15mm.

you are right, they go to 15, i was thinking 3/8" for some reason.

they are badass though, Hansen all the way.

The only thing i could see as a downside is taking the sockets to a task, because you are likely to spill them over. But i have a service cart that they reside in so i just bring all the tools right to the job.

I bought the HANSENS (6pcs) at a GOODGUYS car show. Didnt get the Tooltopia price, but also didnt pay shipping or sales tax.

Most of my sockets are Craftsmen, but I have some 3/8" drive Industro (USA/older off brand). I had ONE 8mm socket that wouldnt fit on the HANSEN "stem" , but Im thinking other brand sockets would.

Listen, the HANSEN's might not be perfect, but I'm thinking they are one of the best organizing options available. I dont recommend the HANSENS if you plan on grabbing a tray and moving them here and there. Not intended for that purpose in my opinion.

I own the Harbour Frieght set and have had no problems with them. The metric sizing is a little wierd, but that's easily resolvable with a Brady label maker, which I'm sure you already have if you're **** enough to be worried about Hansen socket trays, so buy both HF sets for $10 and a Brady label maker with the difference. That was a run-on sentence.

Well, if the HF versions merely require a relabel job, then that's what I'll get.

You guys ever order online from HF or always buy in-store?

Oh, final question: Given the number of slots or "stems" I guess on a HF organizer, what sockets (from smallest to largest) will I be able to store on one? Will I have sizes left over that I'll need to store elsewhere?

I just ordered a set of 6 hansen socket organizers on ebay for 49.99 + 10.00 shipping

I searched for "Hansen socket organizers" on www.bing.com and then clicked the very 1st sponsored ad by microsoft. to get 10% cash back using their bing search cashback program.

I have seen the same ones on EBay from the Bigfisherman and want to jump on them when I get the cash. I have searched and searched for socket storage. To the point that I no longer want to see another organizer in my life. The Hansens are the ones for me and that EBay seller has the best price.

Stay away from the Harbor Freight socket organizers. First of all they don't always fit all your sockets side by side. I had some that would not fit beacuse the HF pegs were too close. Also the square plastic pegs require you to grab the socket and wiggle it back and forth to remove it from the tray. Save your money and go with the Hansons. They are the best, they fit all the sockets, easy on/off and all the pegs numbered correctly.

I'd stay away from the harborfreight ones if possible. Some of the pegs are oversized preventing the socket from sitting correctly and made it impossible to remove the socket without using two hands.

Well, when Rickster speaks, I listen! Hansens it is.

So, am I going to be able to find a set for less than $60 shipped anywhere?

Bull if you do a search for hanson socket tray on www.Bing.com (microsofts search engine, previously known as live search

you can click on the 1st link at the very top of the page with the "cash back banner" and it takes u to ebay.

10% back to your paypal account when u BIN and pay with paypal.

there is a set of 6 for 63.00 free shipping with 10% back it would be $56.70 shipped!

takes like 1 min to sign up if u dont already have a Microsoft Live account.

I did not see the 10% back link on Bing.com:headscrat

I am looking at the Big Fishman's set right now...black and blue which I prefer to the red and gray.

A question popped into my head, My Craftsman organizers let me store 6 and 12pt versions of each socket side by side. With the Hansen's what do you guys do since you only have one peg for each size?

yeah you have to run 12 points separately.

honestly i spent $25 bucks on those craftsman plastic rails because originally i did not want to spend the $ on the hansens. well i ended up buying the hansens anyway. Its so much nicer, and really cleans up the service carts top compartment.

Luckily i reused some of the rails to hold other sockets.

Once i buy my sets of 1/2" drive deep wells ill buy the deep well trays, but those are HUGE.

Sweet Jeebus...I gotta spend another $60 so I can store my 12pt pieces? That just curdled the milk for me.

do you have the full set of 12 pts? it may be better to keep those on regular rails as i do not use those as often. There is no real advantage to 12 pts in my opinion unless you are using a breaker bar where you need small increments of movement. They have less metal to metal contact so whenever possible I use a 6pt.

Some of the Hansens on Ebay are left over misorders. The 3/8" sets are missing the 15/16 size. I talked to the distributor a couple of months back. They stated there was a huge misorder that left out the 15/16. They were dumping those . When I questioned the guy on Ebay he first stated he did not know,(yeah right) he then stated that his were the ones with out 15/16. If you look at his ad he does not list the 15/16. If you are not paying attention you do not see it.

Thanks, I hated to rain on the parade. He has been selling those on Ebay for months now. I guess most people do not pick up on it until it is too late. Could you imagine making a misorder like that. :wtf:

I was going to post what he saw... when I saw that my bing screen defaults to the United Kingdom. Selected USA and now I see the page as you describe.
