Interesting how the List price on Tooltopia is higher than the List price on the Hansen website.....

Makes it look like a better deal I guess.

This was the cheapest i found. Sears is close to list, $14/each.
They do list the sizes on the "rods" that stick up.

I actually found these after I bought them from Sears. So I purchased the set from tooltopia, then returned the Sears trays and got my $91 bucks back.

Only difference is instead of the red SAE tray on Tooltopia, they are black from Sears.

At least the wife is understanding. When I saw them at Sears and saw the $14 price tag for each one, she said It's ok, they will last you for awhile and will make your tool box look nice.

I hate you guys for posting this stuff. Just dropped $135 at tooltopia for a 2nd set of these and then also found some nice looking VIM mini screwdriver and torxdriver sets...and bit sets...

You can get these from Sears for around $55 every Sunday night.

Price from tooltopia was $54 with shipping. I guess I don't see the deal here. Some one tell me what I'm missing here. :headscrat

i only needed the 1/4 and 3/8. With that said, looks like online they have 2pack for $20. So, $10 each. No store pick up for 2pack though. I just checked sat in the store and they were ~ $14/ea.

They have the set for around $60 on their website, and almost every Sunday night there is a 10% online discount on all tools, including these. I'll give you that doesn't include shipping, but I don't pay shipping anyways.

Outstanding! I was just looking for these today!

FWIW, O'Reilly Auto Parts stocks the 1/4" and 3/8", for $9.99 each. They didn't have the 1/2" in stock, though.

My HF had a set with 1/2, 3/8, and 1/4 on clearance for less than 6 bucks. They were red. I might go back tomorrow and get a set for my son. Don't like too much from HF, but things like this are good.

Oh Really? I couldn't resist. I'm going to have to post before I buy next time. Always good to support the brick and mortar store 2 miles away when you can.

get new ones at HF if you need metric as the new ones dont skip sizes like the red ones and and have a smaller footprint in your drawer (same size as hansons actually)

as far as the hansons on tooltopia i was pricing them last week and saw that buying indidually vs the "6 pc set" is cheaper

Ok I have one question, I have three of these trays in my tool box (1/2" & 3/8" metric and 1/2" standard) with impact sockets on them. The one for 3/8" standard sockets (3801 I think is the part number) will not fit impact sockets. Does Hansen make a tray for 3/8" standard impact sockets? I have looked for a couple of years with no luck.

.... id show a pic of mine loaded with my snap on sockets but im not looking to start a war :)

on a side note im trying to find the receipts for the red ones i bought a ton of to try and return/exchange for the new/better ones

Still looks like it wouldn't hold all of my sockets from the pictures. Only goes up to 20mm in 3/8 drive. Do they make these in SAE? Do your biggest sized sockets fit in these ones? Thanks.

i have up to 19... not sure ive seen bigger in 3/8

i did lay them upside down to the hansons and the peg layout is identical only the on the HF its drive end down not up like the hansons and i like the drive side down anyways so i can see if its a 12 or 6 pt etc. ive only seen them in the metric (new style HF) My older red style HF in std are just fine except for the 2 largest wich arnt spaced properly so i just do drive side up and they fit fine as im not a pro mechanic whos in his drawer 100 times a day i dont mind that as i rarely use my std stuff anyways

I have that VIM tray that I currently have odds and ends on. Kinda handy in that regard. Etorx, torx, hex, etc. ***** compared to hansen for socket sets though.

Y'all need to look at tooltopia for hansen again. The 1/4 & 3/8 hansen racks were $7.06 each and under $9 for the 1/2. Total came out to like $46 for all 6. The sets of them are more expensive, god knows why.

Only thing I wish is that there were some blue metric ones.

Yeah, that's kind of what I figured. Always hated the metal pegs, just never tried them on a tray like that before. I know what you mean about the sizes too.

Thanks for the info. I think I'm more leaning to the Hansen set, but it really bothers me that there isn't a spot for all of my sockets. I'm OCD about that. Does anyone know if the whole set will fit side by side two deep in the top drawer of the HF 13 drawer box? Also, are these the regular price on those trays at tooltopia or just a sale?

This is what my dad built for me on my old 19" wide toolbox. It was so small that it wouldn't hold 1/4 drive. If you're up for a little DIY, you can build yourself a pretty nice quality tray out of plywood and wooden dowels and you can arrange it however you want with as many pegs as you want (to accommodate that 22mm 3/4 drive). My dad didn't seem all too thrilled about having to make a new plywood tray now that I bought the Harbor Freight 45" 13 drawer cabinet, so I was going to try these Hansen socket trays instead to see if I like them... Will turn around and sell if I don't.

Here's pics of the wooden tray:

They will order the 1/2" for you if you ask.

I asked them about that, and they said "if it's not on the shelf, I can order it but it'll be quite a bit more expensive."

Looking on their site, it looks like they indeed list the Hansen organizers. $9.99 for the 1/4 and 3/8, $11.99 for the 1/2":

http://www.oreillyauto.com/site/c/search/Organizers/N0737/C0370.oap

I really prefer the individually labeled pins of the Hansen unit. However, for $6/set, I may go with the Harbor Freight units. I've got one set of the red HF units for home. I just don't like the "wall" between the shallow and deep pins, and I don't like that the size is printed on that wall. I know it's a minor thing, but it seems like I can "pick up" the location of a socket faster with the Hansen units. With the HF, I have to scan the "wall" for the size, then make sure I've translated the size marking to the correct row so I don't pick up the neighboring socket, etc. Kind of OCD, but it's part of the reason I'm considering picking up the Hansen units anyway.

One of my next organizing projects is going to be a shop made organizer for wrenches. Get them to store on their side vs flat to 2x/3x the # you can get in a drawer. I'll post pics after the weekend.

... my wife bought me the HF 13drawer for xmas (well, bought a sears craftsman that I returned for the HF). She was trying to tell me to get organized. I might be going to far now?

After reading the Hansen vs Pittsburgh Pro HF trays, I'm going to immediately return or sell my Hansen trays. I can't believe the Hansen trays mount the sockets upside down?!
