I've been cleaning out my late uncle's garage and found this tool. I have the "foot" too, just not in this pic.

I learned that it's a tool used on the valves of a Model T, but I'm trying to understand how it was used, and for what exactly. These were flat head engines so I imagine it was propped up on the top of the block and used to pull the valve out - maybe if it got stuck in the block or guide? or maybe to lift the valve to adjust the lifter?

OK GJ experts, school me please!
