Have a safe and enjoyable holiday everyone, and stuff yourself to the gills! I will be stalking whitetail deer in northen Michigan Thanksgiving morning, our bountiful feast pre-prepared and slow cooking in crock pots and atop the wood buring stove. I can't wait. Peace!

HAPPY DAY OF THANKS (Thanksgiving)!

The original Thanksgiving was to remember and thank the Almighty God for all His blessings. Governor William Bradford and his Pilgrim Colony celebrated that first Thanksgiving for those who survived the winter, and then having been blessed with a bountiful harvest and new friends in the new country. They had fled the volatile political environment in the East Midlands of England as they were escaping the Monarchical rule and the will of the English Church. The Pilgrims had arranged with English investors to establish a new colony in North America and set sail in 1620 on their new life. From the President of the United States of America - George Washington, 1789.
A Proclamation. - Whereas it is the duty of all Nations to acknowledge the providence of Almighty God, to obey his will, to be grateful for his benefits, and humbly to implore his protection and favor, and whereas both Houses of Congress have by their joint Committee requested me "to recommend to the People of the United States a day of public thanksgiving and prayer to be observed by acknowledging with grateful hearts the many signal favors of Almighty God especially by affording them an opportunity peaceably to establish a form of government for their safety and happiness. ...

From the President of the United States of America - Abraham Lincoln, 1863.
A Proclamation. - The year that is drawing towards its close, has been filled with the blessings of fruitful fields and healthful skies. To these bounties, which are so constantly enjoyed that we are prone to forget the source from which they come, others have been added, which are of so extraordinary a nature, that they cannot fail to penetrate and soften even the heart which is habitually insensible to the ever watchful providence of Almighty God. ...

So again Thank You God for your blessings!
