hello all I have an old ceiling fan that has been kicking my rear the remote quite on me so i replaced the remote and receiver. great everything worked lights up/down, fan rev. lo,med,high...but after about 20 minutes it just stops. then i turn of power to fan than back on then it works again for awhile. checked all connections, good,. does anyone out there have any ideas??? this fan only works with a remote.

Wireless fan controllers are very cheaply made and go on the fritz.

When i use to do home warranty service calls i would get a fair share of dead fan calls.

When i tore into things it turned out that the controller was bad not the fan.

Have u tried using another controller?

Does the fan have pull chains? I assume no since u said it only works with the remote.

If it can be wired direct, try doing that and see if it quits after 20

I guess you wouldn't be using a wireless remote if you had the third wire at the wall switch. But if you do and it is the wireless controller, ditch it and go for a more reliable hard wire controller.

We have a wireless fan/light in the dining room. Every once in awhile the fan will turn on or turn off, or the light will turn on, or turn off. It's the controller and we should replace it but we just turn it all off at the wall switch and forget about it for a couple days. We have other lights in the dining room so it isn't a big deal. Still, it would be nice if it worked correctly.

hello i sent the new controller back. and installed the old receiver the remote dosnt work but when i turn on the fan at the wall switch it runs on low and the lights are dim. this is strange.

Some of them have a feature where if you hold the light button down the light will dim....mine do. To eliminate source of problems get the system working again with the remote, turn the light and fan on with the remote then take the remotes battery out and see if it turns off in 20 minutes.

I doubt it is the handheld remote control that is causing the problem, it is more likely the remote control pickup in the fan that is the problem.

What I am saying is, there is a very easy way to test that.

I have been through all this, bought a house last year where all the fans were on remotes, had handheld remotes and special wall plates too, it was a PITA to get them all working right....the previous owners never cared to.
