Ugh.. I can't decide if I want to buy the bottom cabinet or the top chest. My top chest is only 10x20 ... then again, that'd leave tons of space on the "counter top."

How about this modified version?

Thanks guys. That is such a good looking combo. Tons of space too. I think I would actually have to go buy more stuff just to fill it all.

start with the bottom, then get the top and a side box. u could fit that 10x20 on top of the side box and still have the top and botom box. trust me, with this site, you'll fill it up eventually ;)

Haha I'm quickly learning that. Right now I've got a few hundred in my "play money" account and it's either the bottom cabinet, 12 boxes of VCT tile and adhesive, or a 2 car garage kit from epoxy-coat.com. Hmmm... choices, choices, choices... ;)

Tried to buy the bottom box yesterday with a "super coupon" (349.99) and use the 20% off coupon also. They would only allow me to use one coupon.......

I'll wait and see. I did walk out with the sheetrock hoist for 199.00

They usually won't stack coupons but if you brought in the printout of the online price of $369 they may let you use the coupon then.

i went to the doctors office today and there was a car and driver mag there. i instantly fliped to the pack of the magazone to look forthe coupon and it was there. i read the fine print. it says the coupon cannot be used with any other offers but is valid on sale prices. so i dont see why some people cant use the coupon.v this one expires on the 5th, i wont have money in time to use it. (yes, i did steal the coupon out the mag when i went into the doctors room, there where too many people in the waiting area)

I picked one up yesterday. Price matched the online price and used the 20% off plus CA tax total ~$320. Pretty happy with the box.

The height of the box (w/o packing material) was very close to the width of my hatchback(08 Mazdaspeed3), so I had to take the wheels off to be on the safe side. Needed a friend to help put it in the car. They didn't want to help because of liability issues. Also, they let me borrow a Pittsburgh crescent wrench to take the wheels off. Don't ever buy that piece of ****.

Taking it out of my car alone was interesting. Stacked 2 tires near the trunk and put a blanket/cardboard over the bumper. Pulled it out and let it rest on the tires. Made it work.

Here's my question. I've got 2 extra bolts. Is that just in case I get one of the attachment pieces for the future? Thanks.

I think I ended up with extra bolts too so I wouldn't worry about it. I just figured it was for a side cabinet or box.

They are for adding a side box. Look at the either side at the bottom that's where they go. I do wish however that they gave 2 handles instead of just one...!

Yes, the boxes come with two extra bolts for attaching a side cabinet. I really wish they had those single door side cabinets on sale. They were $99 before a coupon, now back to $199

I just picked up one of these tool boxes, and the drawers on mine are all pretty stiff opening and closing for the first 1/2" or so. I'm guessing this is to keep them closed if moving the unit, but I'd prefer they just opened and closed easily like my other tool boxes since I don't ever move it.

Has anyone else run into this? It's the same on every drawer. I checked the display in the store and there's waaaay less friction on that bottom box and none on the drawers of their display top box.

Update: I found the detents and removed them. It's just rubber pieces at the back of each drawer slide that the slides hook around when pushed all the way in. I removed the rubber pieces and now moving the drawers is super smooth and easy.

I just went and checked these out. Then went to the Sears down the street for a direct comparison. Being that a snapon or such isn't even remotely in the cards I'm going to pick up the HF box. It felt much more substantial than the Craftsman box for way less money. Now I just have to convince them to give it to me for 20% off the internet price. I went in and the manager there refused stating the coupon I had said it couldn't be combined with discounts or other coupons. Went home and found another current coupon that specifically states it can apply to sales prices. If they honor the coupon with the internet price it'll be $296 before taxes. Not bad at all. Wish me luck tomorrow :)

Just the 13 drawer roller unit will increase my tool storage by over 1000 square inches over my current small craftsman setup.

The Harbor freight guy near me said they have to honor the online sale prices. As long as you bring in a print out or pull the site up on your phone (if you're able) they match the price as if it were an in store sale price. Then you can use the 20% coupon on top of that. He said it was a company policy.

The first 20% off coupon I found actually says it can't be combined with any other discounts or coupons. By discounts I assume they mean sales prices. When I got home I found another valid coupon that specifically says it can be applied to sales prices. They had no problem matching the web price, it was the 20% off coupon that was the sticking point. We'll see how it goes tomorrow.

I've attached both for comparison, such a tiny difference :)

I don't think they will always allow a Super coupon with 20% off coupon, but in the last flier I looked at there was a super coupon and a regular flier coupon on different pages.

That's pretty much the same experience I had. The box is actually quite sturdy. I bought three pieces in three separate trips about three years ago and I am very satisfied. All the pieces were on sale plus I used the 20% coupon on each of them.

So the first HF I was dealing with yesterday would only do 20% off the in store sales price of $399. So I went to another store and they had no problem price matching to the web price and taking 20% off. Ended up at $279 before tax. I might go back and get the 7 drawer side cabinet tomorrow or next weekend.

Here it is next to the Craftsman it's replacing.

anyone have a link or great scan to the coupon that is specifically states it may be used in conjunction with sales priced items? i'm pretty far from HF to drive on the chance that a sales person in a bad mood might not let me use the other coupon =) TIA

Post #461 at the stop of this page has it. It's the same one I printed out and used twice this past weekend.

You may be hard pressed to find the 20% coupon with the wording saying it's good on sale price items. I usually get mine out of the Car&Driver mag, but the last one one got that said good on sale prices was back in August. The wording that stated good on sale prices is now gone from the 20% coupon that I've gotten in Sept & Oct.

steve,

you printed the one you used from the .jpg attached to post #461? i tried that prior to posting my request and it was pixelated like no tomorrow. then trying to read it to make sure i got the right one, i noticed that the coupon reads, "...original coupon must be presented to receive the discount."

Yeah, it's not the clearest image but it worked for me. My store didn't even look at it close enough to read the fine print.

Original smdginal. Don't worry about it. It is the same one you can get off their website.

You could bring it in on your laptop screen, but the scanners won't pick up the barcode properly. ;)

I'm sure it really depends on how each individual store is managed. I'm fortunate to have 3 in the general area since they first place I visited wouldn't accept the coupon on top of an internet price match.

Looks like you did it! Nice! I bought 3 of them, and 3 of the side cabinets. Rented a flatbed truck from Home Depot to pick them all up.... getting them home and out of the truck by myself (and in time to return the truck before another hour rent was due) was "fun". haha. I actually dented a corner of one... :( Oh well.. it still works fine!

I picked one of these up on Sunday. They were $369 on the website for a while and luckily I waited because over the weekend they went to $349, printed out my 20% coupon and was out of there for under $300.
Now I have a place for my tools, how fantastic of a feeling that is!
