Yeah, the 349.00 deal is gone. It's not showing 369.00. However, over the weekend the 349.00 price was showing when browsing all tool boxes. As soon as you click on the item the price changed to 369.00. Now, the 369.00 price is showing in both locations.

Either way as long as the store will honor the 20% coupon, you can still pick the box up for under 300.00 OTD.

Finally got to my HF store when they actually had the boxes in stock.
A buddy called this morning said he was headed to the store and asked if I wanted to ride along. I tried to use the $349 supercoupon and 20% coupon, no dice, ended up with $399 minus 20%.
Finally did 3 seperate purachases to get the top, bottom and side cabinets with the 20% coupons, with 7% sales tax ended up at $770 out the door.

The store was doing a sidewalk sale, busier than I've ever seen it in there.

Does anyone know for certain how much this box weighs? I've been all over the threads as a guest for the past week looking and I saw someone said around 200lbs and another said 367. I know there is no way it's 367 but does anyone know for sure?

PS Great Forum from what i've seen so far!

To be honest it would be much easier to have two people unload the box. Its packed in a skid and getting it out is kind of hard. They load it with a fork lift so it is heavy.

The crate has 311lbs printed on the cardboard sleeve, and there's less than 10lbs of wood there so 300lbs is pretty close.

That doesn't mean it weighs 300lbs. 200 seems more accurate. I too was able to get it out of my pickup myself, although VERY carefully and slid it out onto the grass without damage. Would have been nice to have an extra helping hand though.

If its 200 or 300 I wouldn't want to risk dropping it. Two people can get it done. If you have an engine hoist then maybe Id do it myself.

The first one I brought home had a dent in the front of it that I didn't discover until I got home and unpacked it. The shipping container and cardboard were all fine, so it must have been like that when it was packed. So, I went back to the store and had it replaced.

After loading the second one, but before leaving the store, I decided to unwrap and check it. I found the bottom left drawer tilted. The right side was about 3/8" lower than the left side. The edge of the right side of the drawer was also a bit bent. No damage on that crate or cardboard, either.

I unwrapped and inspected a third one before loading it. That one was fine, and came home with me.

For that rugged of a tool chest for $280, I'm fine with the inconvenience. My (older) Homak rollaway has about the same heft. I had purchased a Craftsman BB rollaway setup, but it felt like tin foil next to the US General and Homak, and got returned.

I unwrapped mine and pulled the drawers out before unloading it. I needed them out to paint it, anyway.

Picture of the carton that the HF box comes, note the weights given.

I was able to unload the new box by myself. Slide it out of the p/u bed and down a couple of 2 by 8 and onto a furniture dolly into the garage. My pickup bed is 38" off the ground. I did tie a couple of restraining straps so I could ease it down slowly. Glad I did.

i bet if you replaced the decals on the us general box with snap on or mac tools no one would be the wiser, looks like a nice box.

I've now started a collection - 2 Bottom chest and one of the roll-around carts.

Painted and laid a solid-core door over the top of the two for a perfect workbench.

Sadly, if you put a decent(shiny like Mac or Snap-On) paint job on the HF box you wouldn't be far off.
I briefly thought about disassembling mine and having it powdercoated.
I'm very pleased with the HF boxes that I bought a couple weeks ago.

That is how I got an 5.0/AOD out of the Ram when my lift broke.

I wonder if they'll let me get out of there with four of these at 20% off each... No real money right now but it's not so different from paying the truck guy.

Print as many as you want. This one is good for a couple of months.

Yep, that's the funny part, they take the printed internet coupons, I used 3 copies on my set of boxes.

On sale again tempts me to go buy another bottom, but since I haven't gotten around to populating my first one maybe I should hold off for a bit??

Finally got "clearance" from the wife to go buy one of these but I have to wait until mid November for it. I hope they have another sale going on then!

I was not able to use my coupon (same as above) on the box. So I had to pass on it till I saved some more money. Mad me sad. They said that the price was already a discount and that couldn't be combined with the coupon.

They're wrong. It says right on the coupon that it is good on sale items. It's a little garbled on the one I put up, but it's there.

If it is on sale you can still use the coupon. If it is a coupon that lowers the price, you cannot. It is in that small print on the right of the huge 20%.

The last ad I saw, it was a coupon. Either watch the web for a web price (they will match if you print out the page - and still qualifies for 20% off coupon) or watch for it to go on sale vs coupon in the store/ad.

The last flier sent to me had a coupon for $349, and also showed it on sale for $399.
I used the coupon against the $399 making it $319. They would not let me use it in conjunction with the $349 coupon, which it clearly states on the 20% coupons.

As evidenced in this thread, and every other one about HF sales and coupons, most of us who have used the coupon above, have used them on something that's on sale.

The coupon also says it can't be from a computer printout, yet that's how the majority of us get them and use them. I get mine directly from HF'w own website where they have a button to click to print them for use.

Alright, all this talk about this box got me to buckle and go look at it. The one they had at my HF had a textured red finish. Do all of these have that textured finish? It seems like some of them in the photos look like they don't. If that's the way all of these are it's a deal breaker for me. I'm not a fan of the textured finish.

They went on sale when I just started my garage renovation. Not wanting yet another huge box piled up in my living room, I asked if I could buy one (with the 20% off coupon) and have them hold it in the store for a few weeks until I was ready for it. Instead, they gave me a raincheck for the sale price minus 20% and said just to come back when I was ready.

I know from reading posts here about different experiences at HF that management and attitudes vary from store to store, but I can tell you that the folks at the HF store nearest to me have been consistently wonderful, friendly, and understanding. That's one of the main reasons they continue to get my business.

If they go on sale before you're ready, I'd go to the store with a 20% coupon, explain the situation, and see if they'll give you a raincheck.

Quite a few of us aren't fans of the pinkish-red textured finish, and have remedied that with a few hours of work and some Rustoleum. In one of Jack Olsen's posts, he wrote that Regal Red and semi-gloss black came close to Craftsman colors, so I chose that route (thank you Jack!). Between the primer and paint, it cost about $40, looks fantastic, and cleans easily.
