Here's another coupon. No exp date and says can be used on sale items.

Just picked mine up this afternoon! $296 + tax out the door.

The manager of the Parkville, Maryland store is great -- all-business, no hassles. She took my printout of the cheap Inside Track (I'm a sucker) website cart prices for my half-dozen items and and then punched in the 20% coupon for the cabinet without even blinking. Then gave me three employees to help me rip it open to check for damage and load it into my truck. Managed to unload it by myself without doing any damage with my shop crane and a couple cargo straps. This thing is rock solid!

How about a picture?

As requested. You can see from the pics that the red is just slightly darker than the current CM red. The last pic shows the difference in sheen between the gloss Regal Red and the semigloss Black.

That looks great! I found that one side of my Craftsman stack was lighter than the other, and that a newer piece I got was darker than the older ones. I think the paint fades when exposed to sunlight and time.

Someone should send Harbor Freight those pictures to convince them to drop that pink-red eggshell nonsense forever.

That does look nice painted real red and black.

I'm happy with the construction of mine but I'm a little irritated that the drawers are smaller than the flat-front one in the picture on the HF site. The 6 Piece Socket Drawer Organizers show a picture of them in the cabinet, but they don't fit in the new design. Nothing that can't be fixed with a little quality jig saw time, but still irritating...

atlm: Question did you paint them with a rattle can and if so what prep work did you do? BTW nice job from the pictures...

Has anyone noticed a time pattern for these going on sale?

If they do go back on sale someone post here.

Subscribed.

The only pattern I've noticed is... they go on sale all the time hehehe... They've been on sale 3 times since I started watching this thread at the beginning of the year. Have no fear... they will go on sale again... and it usually gets posted here when they do. I'd say after they go off sale... it's maybe 6wks to 2 months at the most before they're back on... that's a guess from sort of half keeping my eye on them... not paying super close attention...

After I had been watching this thread I saw them "go back on sale" and rushed out and grabbed the ones I wanted, even though I wasn't quite ready for them... since then I think I've seen them go off and then back on twice... so don't worry... they'll be back on sale very soon...

They're listed for $599 in the St. Louis are also. The November flyer has them on sale for $499 and with the 20% coupon it would take it down to $400. The girl I talked to said they will go lower than $499 sometime, but didn't know when. I don't know if I should hold off or not.

Thanks Marc. Yes, Rustoleum rattle can.

Prep work consisted of wiping everything down twice with an autobody degreaser using microfiber cloths.

Then 2 coats of Rustoleum Professional gray primer, followed by 2 coats of color (also Rustoleum Professional). On the chassis, I did a very light wipedown with microfiber cloth in between the primer and color to remove overspray dust.

Since I didn't want to get paint on the slides, I taped off each entire drawer except the front and back of the front panel. That took a lot of time. I also taped off the inside of the chassis.

The paint was dry to the touch in less than an hour, but took about 3 weeks to fully dry, where it didn't smell anymore and couldn't be dented with a fingernail.

Take a look at in person. Size is very small and construction isn't up to the standard of larger ones. It may be worth the money but not one I would buy.

What about the 5 drawers? There are two going on sale- the black one @ $129 and the red (PRO) @ $159. Both right around Thanksgiving. Is the red one that much nicer?

The difference is like night and day. Spend the extra bucks and get the red one.

saw the brown 13drawer unit on CL for $40- the guy was moving. I passed on it. Save your $ for a real roller. Both the black tool cart (at $99) and the red tool cart (at $129) are great deals at their sale prices.

More preference than anything. Red one is larger and more stout but the black one is nice too.

I just got HF's Monthly Savings Circular e-mail and they have the 13 drawer bottom chest at $379.99. The unfortunate part is that the website says $499.99 so that means $379.99 is the best price we can get since we can't combine a 20% coupon with a super coupon. No more sub-$300. :( And here I was going to buy a bottom chest on the 10th.

Just because it isn't as low as it has been in the past doesn't mean it won't ever be lower again. HF changes their "sale" prices all the time. They can even have two different "sales" going at the same time with different prices on the same items.

Keep your eyes peeled for the lower prices and be patient. They will drop them again.

Amen, got an e-mail offering a $379 price today. No other discounts apply. I intend to add one additional roller this fall.

Also got my garage insulated today for an ongoing remodel.

Anybody have this one?
Seems like a decent deal for $200.

I bought it this weekend. There was a HF coupon in Car and Driver magazine reducing the price to $139. Seems good value for the money. The drawer slides are not heavy duty ball-bearing ones, but I used a little spray lithium grease on them and they slide nicely. The crinkle black paint is well-done and looks great.

Nice, looks like I'll save $20 with with super coupon price of $379, compared to the $499 price with the 20% coupon.

I bought that one last spring, $139 after sale price and 20% coupon! Kinda wish I had saved my money for the big red one. The middle unit did work great for me in the RV basement on my four month AK trip, though! Only had to put the locking mechanism back on two time on the trip!

Harold

I have that setup. I picked it up for around 150 bucks on sale. It is literally about half the thickness of steel used in a comparable craftsman model at half the cost. I haven't had any issues with it and it does the job. I'd spring for some better drawer liners. I don't regret the purchase at all.

Good to hear positive reviews of it. I dont need a huge box or it to be super strong as long as it can support my (small) tool collection with room for future expansion.
