The 40" Craftsman box I bought 2 weeks ago is made in Mexico, it also comes with a lifetime warranty.

This is one of their premium models that was on sale. The price was simply too good to pass up.

This was a legacy purchase so I will gladly pay more for a quality box made in "America" that I can hand down to my kids.

I'm confused. You bought a box "made in Mexico" and was glad to pay more because it's "made in America"? :dunno:

You must have failed geography class.

I did not say USA, I said America:

The Americas, or America, also known as the New World, are the combined continental landmasses of North America and South America.
Last I checked Mexico is right in-between or better known as Central America.

So yes, I would prefer an "American" product.
I checked them all and for me the box I bought is built better than any box store or Harbor freight product.

I wish I could get a Snap-On or Matco but that is way too much for home use just to have " Made in USA" bragging rights.

:rocker:

I hear what you're saying Jac, and technically you're right. However, I suspect most folks that hear 'Made in America' are not thinking---Canada, Mexico, Brazil, etc.:lol_hitti

Having said that, enjoy the box:beer:, I know that I like mine so much that I'm contemplating getting a third one.:rocker:

Not sure if this will be a nation-wide sale, but in my area, these are being marked-down to $359 (from $389) for a three-day sale this weekend. No coupon required. Just a heads-up. :)

they are made in china, but they are actually a very very nice toolbox. really rugged, thick sheetmetal, and the drawers are on nice ball bearing guides

You can call it Chinese junk abut one thing about Harbor Freights toolboxes are far form junk. They are better then USA Craftsman. Their 5 drawer red cart is no less then the truck brands quality if not better.

I am a Toolahoilc,Sometimes I regret it,Especially when the Toolman wont give me no credit

It's "Hecho en Mexico" there are legal requirement for and item to be advertised as "made in America" or "made in USA"

LOL, I'm w/ muncie21 on this. When I think American made, I think USA made. Not sure I would value a Mexico made tool box more highly than a Chinese made one personally. But each to his own.

Thanks for the heads up. I'm calling my local store tomorrow AM. Hopefully I can still catch this. I need to add a second cabinet and would like to save a few bucks. Bought my other one during a tent event for $340.

Any coupons, etc to get for that price again???

I thought about getting that HF set, but I really needed their 56" set, at $1200! I ended up buying the Husky 52" box for $500 (floor model, $600 list) and I like it just fine.
Only downside is it doesn't accept the side cabinets like the HF will.

6daze, you are the man! Thank you so much!!! I'm going to print out and run and grab one tomorrow night after work.

By the way, I did call my local HF and talked to a lady named "Cinammon". As you might expect, I got called sugar and all the usual slang, lol. Anyhow, Cinammon informed me the sale is happening this weekend (1/9 - 1/11) for $359 on these toolboxes.

Very sweet lady, and she knew her stuff. I tried asking about coupons, the insider club, etc. Basically all it was denied, very nicely of course. She said all the good stuff they exclude for the most part. I wasn't expecting much, but thought I'd swing the bat since some of you report these successes.

About the only incentive she offered was that insider club members were allowed access to sale prices 1 day early.

Where are you located madpower? Maybe some people around you would like to know what HB let you use the coupon so they can as well.

Got one of these off The List for $200 on Sunday. Damn near brand new, just a bit of dirt that some 409 and paper towels took care of in no time. I've been jonesing after one for over a year so I'm psyched that my patience paid off!

WTF.... I look on CL just about every day and didn't see that. There is one on there now that a guy wants $700 for and it comes with the top and side cabinet but that's too close to the sales prices.

Philadelphia area.
I went to the HF store just outside of the Franklin mills mall (I think they just changed their name).

I think the cashier wasn't trained, so if I were to try again, I wouldn't be surprised if they denied the coupon.

It was listed as a U.S. General. It didn't say HF anywhere in the listing but I just stumbled on it during my daily CL sweep.

Damn you!

Sometimes I imagine im the only one in my city that scours the CL ads for stuff like this. The sad truth is that there are probably 100's looking for the exact same item that I am.

any of you guys have one of these?]

That Husky is a light-weight mobile work bench and is NOT at the same level as the HF 44. Thinner metal construction, light duty all the way, probably best for the diyer. Check the specs against the HF 44 carefully.

I saw this one too on CL too. I would buy it if he would take 5 bills.

I have been so completely happy with my HF tool box, especially the gloss red color....

IMG_1089.jpg

So I decided to buy a matching "accessory"...

Actually, I had the HF box first.

What really speaks volumes about the quality of the HF box is that I have absolutely no desire to "upgrade" to anything else. That's what blows my mind.

It's built like a tank and holds all of my tools with extra room to spare. Granted, I'm not a professional mechanic. But for home use, how do you beat this box?

Is your box ever even used? That garage looks like it's way to clean/neat to be worked in.

So he should buy a SO box because he owns a Porsche? That would be ridiculous. People who have money usually do because they work hard and are smart with money management.

If I had the money for a car of that caliber, I either 1. Wouldn't own a tool box of any sorts, or buy something nice off of craigslist
