So he should buy a SO box because he owns a Porsche? That would be ridiculous. People who have money usually do because they work hard and are smart with money management.

 I have a $20K motorcycle, and a $600K house, and two $30K cars. I'm not sure there is a tool box worthy of me!:spit:

Thank you! 2015 Cayman S with all the goodies.

Here's a link to my thread if you're interested in hearing more:

Formisano’s Cayman Journal (with pics)

Mega drollage! Looks like you have a twin. To us mear mortals anyways. What's the difference in what the one guy was talking about ? (Xr7 and psam I think?) And WOW! You have some HIGH class friends. The carerra gt, the 430 spyder and not one not two, but THREE R8'S IN ONE PIC! MIND BLOWN. Do you remember if they had the v8's or 10's? If you don't mind me asking, how did you come to choose the cayman over the extensive list of exotics? And what is the non smoker package? No ash tray? Wow. Just, wow. Hats off to you.

Thanks Jim,
Regarding your questions....
  • Suspension Systems: There are three suspension options to choose from when you order a car.
    • Base, which is firm, and typical for a sports car.
    • PASM (Porsche Active Suspension Management), which is 10mm lower and includes electronically-controlled dampers.
    • X73, the firmest, lowest, and sportiest. 20mm lower. This is the one I spec'd.
  • The guys with the R8's: Belive it or not, all three are V10's. But the kicker is that two of them are manual transmissions, which is very rare.
  • Choosing the Cayman: Although I don't consider it to be an 'exotic', some of the reasons I picked it are because it is mid-engined, light, and handles very well. I considered a pre-owned Lamborghini Gallardo, but concerns over maintenance costs made me reconsider.
  • "Non" Smoker's Package": Somewhat of an inside joke... The car comes standard with a small and useless cubby in the center console. Porsche offers a "Smoker's Package" that includes a 12v outlet in that spot, with a nice cover that completes the look of the center console. It's a free option. People who order the package, but don't smoke, call it the non-smoker's package.

Thanks so much for taking the time to answer my questions. I made a thread for cars lime yours if you'd be so kind to post in it.

The R8's, wow. Absolutely amazing they all have the v10. And two with manuals at that. After seeing a top gear episode where clarkson drives an r8, the option list pricing on those cars are out of this world. And I can't believe he says he doesn't like it. It did really surprise me though its the same v10 as the gallardo. Kinda of disappointing to me.

BTW , I think you made the right call on a new Cayman vs
Used gallardo. I'm not much into those unless it'd happen to be a balboni or supper laggera. But again.. Who am I to talk lol.

Hi everyone, after reading this tread and others on here. I took the plunge and got the 44 inch US General pro too, cabinet, and the top chest. I used the $359 coupon on the cabinet and payed $289 for the top box. When I unpack it, I noticed a few changers they made to it. All to the good in my opinion. One the top and bottom pieces now have barrel key locks on them. I like them better than traditional key locks. Second I know that I have read that several people complaining about the white and clear strips sliding off the drawer handles. They now provide plastic clips to snap on the ends of the drawer handles to keep them in place. Also covers the sharp edges on the handle ends, yea! Also had a fun time ( pun intended) unloading it from my truck after getting home. Thanks to others on the fourm, which gave me an idea of how to unload them by myself, with killing myself and damaging the tool boxes. I used the front end loader on my tractor to unload them into my garage. Then used my engine host to lift the cabinet off the crate it came on. No way was I going to be able to lift it off by myself. After all said and done, I am very happy with my new tool box set. Very surprised how well it is made. I am including pictures of the process.

Here's a few more pictures. Also the two bolts that people ask what are they for, are used to attached the side cabinets. Also here's a picture of the packet of the end clips for the drawers. So hopefully you will find this helpful and informative.

Those end clips would be great for the labels sliding out. Not to mention the rail edge that took a slice out of my finger Friday! I wonder if they can be bought separately?

I b ought mine two months ago and didn't come with the clips. Since they now include them, shows me that HF listens to its customers and has a product improvement program.

Hi all,

I too am considering buying this toolbox and noticed that it was on sale for 369 this week in my area vs. the normal 389 price. However it specifically says that coupons can't be combined at the 369 price. So, my question to the forum is whether or not anyone has had luck lately using the standard 20% coupon with an item like this on sale? Otherwise, I'd just use the 20% coupon on the regular price because it would end up being cheaper than the sale price.

Thanks,
Ray

The 20% can't be used on tool storage I believe.

I used a $359 coupon on the 8th of sept. No problem it runs out the 12th of sept. I will attach the coupon. Just show it to them. They will type the number in. Worked for me:)

This is the number if you have trouble reading it. 89297225

You can't use the 20% but some stores will let you use the discount you get for joining inside track club when you buy it, that's what I did, and I got mine for less than 300

I really want one of these bad but have no way to get it home. Too bad HF doesn't deliver from the store.

I ordered mine on the phone and had it delivered to my house. Guy came in a lift gate equipped truck. The crate was already on a rolling pallet jack so he wheeled it right into my garage! I spent a few minutes uncrating it and wheeled it over against the wall. EZ!
Check in advance whether there will be a fee for the lift gate delivery. Mine was no cost.

Now that you got the top box, do you think its worth it? Or is the money better spent on a second box?

Yes, I wanted more drawers up higher. If not for that, I would have gotten a second cabinet. May still get a second cabinet. Hard to turn down such great deals. :)

I bought the 44" top box last fall, and it never came with those clips. :headscrat

I got so pissed off at the labels always sliding out every time you touched a drawer, that I took them all off and threw them out

They are not listed in the parts list. I think they just started putting them in. They sure make a difference though. Call customer service, they might be able to get them to you.

Shiftless, did they give you a choice of which day it was going to be delivered or just call a day in advance? I don't have a lot of flexibility on being home with little notice.

Picked up a top box for my several year old bottom set this weekend. Was the typical $289 sale price. Love the gloss red color, really makes my old set, even though it's still spotless, look dull.

Anybody in the Sacramento area want a discount on the bottom set so I can go buy gloss red ones?

IMO, they are better than 100% of the (no-doubt-Chinese-manufactured) Craftsman boxes.

They're certainly better made than any of the Craftsman boxes I currently own.

Total agreement here. I bought one a year ago. Much nicer than my Craftsman boxes.

HF definitely got this one right.

Does anyone know if extra shelf clips for the tall side cabinet are available? Not coming up with anything through google or searching here.

Supposedly, clips only come with a shelf- and even the shelf is hard to track down. SKU# posted several yrs ago in another thread don't lead anywhere except to the cabinet.

Call the customer service line and see if they can help- and if you do get "just clips" or it's the whole shelf&clips let us all know. SKU/ITEM#, cost, etc.

I bought three of the 44" boxes at H-F on black Friday for $339.00 each. I got a sales flier for the sale in early January and they are running that price again.
