Seven years ago (when he wrote this) they didn't exclude the tool boxes from their 20% off coupon. Unfortunately, nowadays they do.

I picked up my first 44" this weekend. Coupon for 349 currently. Now to get my new shop laid out and decide if I go top box or another chest...

Anyone know if the crated 44" will fit between wheel wells on a pickup laying down on its back ?

Picked up a couple 44" units in 2014 for ~$360/ea. Still use and love them. They are very good for the money, at least the price I paid. Not sure how much they cost now or if the construction/quality has changed.

I got the roller and top chest combo in 2009. I don’t recall exact price, but did get to use a 20% off coupon on both pieces. Mine are the gen 1 boxes with the red crinkle finish. (Do wish that they would have had the smooth finish and color options back then!)
These boxes have served me well, and only two minor complaints.
1- there were narrow paper and clear plastic strips that slid into grooves on each drawer handle, ostensibly to write on or affix a label with the drawer contents. They slide all over the place and are sticking out of the ends of the handles all the time.
2- the drawer liners provided are somewhat slick, or at least not tacky, and when you shut the drawers, the contents sometimes slide and wad up the liners.
Otherwise, I’ve been very satisfied for the money.

Mine is from 2007 with the crinkle finish .it's been a solid box .it's sitting on a base made from angle iron with heavy duty 6 in caster's. A co worker gave it to me when he retired a few years ago. I had to fix 1 of the slides and replace the Lock.

Still have mine. Replaced my caster wheels as the urethane peeled off. Found a set of wheels that where an exact replacement. Just pulled the axle bolts and slid in the new wheel. Lots easier (and cheaper) that replacing the whole caster. I wanted another set for project but they are sold out.

I have been wanting a 72" version for 1700. I was ok with that price until I saw that same tool box was about 700 less a couple years ago from what I saw online. Wow

I have 2 44" Gen2 boxes, and they are incredible value. They sale about once a year, that's when you should buy them for maximum value.

You can't beat the value even if they not on sale. Either way you can't go wrong.
