a celebration of economy killing

If I told you what I thought really killed the economy, you wouldn't like it, and it would not be appropriate for this board.

But thank you for sharing. I'm sure we are all very glad that you made it your life's work to make the world a better place for our children.

Now go do it someplace else.

Over and over you guys just ***** and moan about people buying toolboxes from overseas, typing it on your Chinese made computer. You also do nothing about the problem. Find a solution, and people will stop buying them.

Why don't you start by making a list of American made tool boxes?

You understand that one of this site's sponsors sells toolboxes made overseas, right? Please explain why Harbor Freight is an evil, job killing, commie, American destroying company, and Strictly Toolboxes isn't.

I don't know HOW HF does those prices. I see their adds in CarCraft and other mags, plus that 20%OFF deal makes some things nearly FREE. We have a store here like HF called Princess Auto, but the prices are 2-3X more than HF, even on sale! It's all made in China stuff, so it must just be the incredible volume of the US that makes the difference. (Also HF probably buys like WalMart does: pressing their suppliers to make it CHEAPER, even if it means the Chinese manufacturers work their people to death for peanuts.....Oops - I didn't mean to bring that up again!)

Anyways, love the wall of drawers look. I need so much more storage it's silly. This summer will see a full redo!!!

I see they are printing that the coupon can't be used for item on sale now.....So maybe some of the cashiers are not reading the fine print but be warned.

I stopped by HF with 20% coupon in hand recently and asked pointedly if the 20% coupon could be applied to store sale items.

I was advised that they would take 20% off of HF's best price. For one item per visit. The coupon had to be surrendered.

I don't know HOW HF does those prices.

with the decline in the economy, the cost of steel has gone down a bit.
there has been a decline on sales and imports from everywhere (including china).
HF is buying in bulk.
my guess is that HF is not making much selling these boxesat these prices, but there sure have peoples attension and they are really making a name for themselves.
I would say they are doing a better job of management than sears is

Picked up 3 of the bottom boxes, and 3 of the side cabinets yesterday. I just missed the sale for $339.00 the last time... so the bottom boxes were back to $399... but the side cabinets (2 shelf) were marked down from $249 (think I remember that correctly) to $99 so I guess it's about the same.

I was also going to pick up one of the 5 drawer carts as well... but after I told her to ring it up and before they got it from the back I saw a flyer laying on the counter that said it was going on sale in the beginning of June for $149.00 instead of $179 so I took it off the list and will go back in June.

She had to ring each one up separately in order for me to use all the 20% off coupons I brought in, but didn't give me a hard time about it... she acted like it happens all the time.

Got impatient and got the box today, for $319+tax!

Priced at $399 + 20% off coupon. The coupon does say not to be combined with any other discounts, so I was a little worried they wouldn't take it, and if they wouldn't accept it I was going to wait.

FYI for the Okies here, the HF on the west side has some coupon nazi's (I was there earlier this week and the guy in front of me tried using a coupon on a sale item and they wouldn't allow), but the Norman HF was totally cool with it today. I did show them the sale flyer showing the $339 price, but they couldn't price match an old sale. No worries though since they still took the 20% coupon.

How funny that I just saw this thread pop up... I'd been eyeing this same box at HF for a while and when I saw the sale and a stack of 20% coupons from magazines, I was all over it. I wish I'd had coin to buy two, but now I'm holding out for one of these in the upcoming sale:

FYI after calling around today and trying to order a black version, the stores will no longer order them. They are online only, shipping is $100+. :(

I might have to do a complete color change. Dark blue or black maybe...

Not sure if you have seen the flyer but these will be going on sale the 11, 12, 13th for $150 which will come out to $120 with the 20% off coupon. I'm planning on picking one up.

Scroll back to post #427 It's fits with a little modification to the lid of the cart. I had to cut 2 slits in the lid. I also drilled and thru bolted on the bottom of the cart and box.

Yep... I'm headed there on Friday to pick one up. I'm tempted to buy one to hold metric and another to hold SAE, but then I'll have to find a place for both carts, which I just don't have right now. Hmmm....

I thought about doing the same thing, but will probably just get one then kick myself for not getting a second.

Born Annoyed - That's an awesome set up with the rolling cabinets. How did you attach the bench top to the top of the rolling cabinets? What type of material is it/estimated cost?

Top is 3/4 inch MDF on the bottom and 1/4 MDF top. Bottom layer is just set in the indent of the boxes and the top 1/4 is just screwed to the bottom layer. If i remember correctly I have about $40.00 in the top including the paint. NOT the best surface for beating on stuff or doing any heavy work.

Does anyone have a pic of the roller cab with two 7 drawer end cabs mounted on it WITHOUT the top box. I'm not a fan of top boxes...

I found a pic on Google...just not that great of one, but it will suffice if there are no others.
