Harbor Freight 20% off ANYTHING???

Hi guys, apologies if this has been covered already but today I have been eyeing the HF 44" and 56" tool chests. On the HF homepage there's a 20% coupon valid for this weekend that has zero fine print on it which I've never seen before. I called my local store and they gave me the standard "those 20% coupons always exclude tool boxes" line.

Online I can add the coupon to my cart and it shows a 20% discount on either toolbox but not both, so the website is set to discount only one item but it appears to be allowing discount on a toolbox. Then I tried adding a 20% coupon code (86433550) that DOES have fine print excluding tool boxes and it acts the same way...so the website doesn't give me confidence of what the store's system will allow.

So my question is, has anyone been successful with getting 20% off a tool chest before? I have somewhat of a leg to stand on since the coupon has no fine print, but don't want to waste my time either.

The code is 61626076 and a link-

So just order it online. Or does shipping kill it?

If the coupon has no fine print with exclusions then you should be able to get the discount IMO.

If it doesnt work in store like online, i would just show the manager how it works online. I have done this at Northern tool before, they always match their online pricing.

In the past I've used the 20% off for a 42in box. Just find a dumb kid. Worked for me. Also my local home depot across the street from hf accepter a 20% off coupon for their 41in box and chest combo. Just make sure it has a Barcode like found in hotrod and carcraft magazine adds. I waited till the took it down from the rafters....got it to checkout and then asked if they would take it before i paid. Manager gave it an ok and i saved 98.** and had an upper and lower set for my new house

I'd show the cashier the coupon code on your phone and have him/her type or scan it in during check-out. If it works on-line then it should work in the store.

Yup. Just need the code. I usually just say it to them.

The 44" box is on sale for $349 with coupon code 85339414, which is pretty good.

If they let you use that all-purpose 20% coupon then you should be in for $389 * 0.8 = $312. That's a heckuva deal!

Agreed, that's what made me ask the question! I'm selling the idea to my wife as an early Xmas gift :bounce:

I really want more than one full length drawer, but getting the 44" box for $330 including tax I can probably live with just one for now and re-visit the 56" a few years from now.

If the 20% coupon code that clearly has the exclusions in fine print hadn't worked online, I'd gladly give it a try. But since the website doesn't seem to jive with the coupon fine print, it doesn't give me confidence that the online coupon policy works the same as in store.

Probably won't make a special trip but will give it a shot if I end up in the area for another reason.

If anyone has success, I'm interested to hear!

So you're saying you had a 20% coupon with the fine print on it and used it to buy a tool box at HF? Did it require an override or did it scan just like any other coupon?

Re: Harbor Freight 20% of ANYTHING???

Looks like they fixed it. The coupon now shows the fine print and no longer works on the tool chest online.

I'm still tempted at the $349 price.

In retrospect, 56 incher came up $639.99, actually, might roll with this instead....I don't think I'll find it any cheaper this year.

Texas i used the coupon in store maybe 3years ago now. I just handed a scanable coupon to the highschool kid with the little paper in the sleeve attached to the floor model and said i want this. Do I drive around bacl to load my truck? And that was it. I hit on the chunky girl there to get it used on the 5 drawers cart too

I seen it at local HD here, the 56 inch HF blows it out of the water, just saying, not beating on it.......in terms of flimsy-ness, Milwaukee has it, HF 55 doesn't....

Have you looked at it in person? How would you compare it to the HF? I read the description but it wasn't clear if the slides are ball bearing.

The MW box is a bit flimsier. Though it does have a powerstrip, soft close drawers, and bigger yet fewer drawers. It also looks pretty awesome.

The HF box is a bit sturdier. Has more drawers, but they are smaller .. IE you are not going to put a circular saw anywhere in it. HF box has lots of add ons/attachments. Not so sure about the MW box.

just my obervations :spit:

So whats the outcome? Did you actually use the coupon? Clearly they have updated it (you updated your post to reflect the coupon with exclusions) already, so did you buy the 44 or 56?

The Milwaukee box looks pretty good... it's not AS strong as the HF but I think it's darn close. The drawer sizes/etc. are great for power tool charging and storing power tools. I'll probably snag one if it's a BF deal just for storing power tools & accessories.

There's a bunch of Husky offerings at HD's right now. All stores, including the small ones, are stocking their swing areas with boxes 41" and beyond for the holidays. Some are quite affordable, and if you can't swing a HF 20% match you should surely be able to do a Lowe's 10%

In store code did not work when rang up, I showed a screen pic of box for $639.99, he said no go because register couldn't bring up code with discount said code was invalid, when I did again on my phone in store, came up $799.99, someone in QC or CS fixed it before I got there.......I said I'll pass, on both sizes if they wouldn't honor online screen shot, CS told him to tell me have a nice day......eh, saved myself 650 today, think I'll look at pistols today while I'm up here.

I haven't looked at Husky boxes for a while, wasn't very impressed last time I did. Do they offer something comparable to the HF 44 or 56?

The other possibility is the Kirkland signature box from Costco. If they drop it down to $500 or less for BF I might go that route even though the drawer layout is somewhat goofy.

have you seen the Milwaukee box at HD? rumored to possibly be on sale black Friday. 399 for bottom, 299 for top currently I believe.
I spoke with a Milwaukee rep and they said the item was to be discontinued. If they do go on sale...they won't be back. I have one. I love the box.

I had spoke with a HD employee who does the ordering and he said they were here to stay. I purchased mine last month and love it.

Does anyone remember what the red tool cart from HF goes for on black Friday. I didn't see it in the newest ad. But if it follows the 41 box and black cart pricing I think it would be the old $150 price? Plan to pick on up but the best coupon I can find is for $169 right now, just wondering if its better to wait a week.
