Harbor Freight 3 ton jack reviews?

Finally scraped together some cash to pick this up tomorrow. Got a coupon for $69. I read the reviews on the HF site it seems like a really good jack. Just want to hear some reviews from here.

I have to drive a half hour away to get it. I plan on testing out in the parking lot before I leave in case i get a bunk one.

I read you have to bleed the air out first by taking the fill screw off and pumping the handle up and down rapidly. Wouldn't air get sucked back in when you lift the handle back up? I was thinking of covering the hole with my finger when the handle goes up so it doesn't pull any air in. Does that make sense?

Same hear. I bought the 4 ton about two years ago, and no issues to speak of as of yet. I originally went in with the plan of buying the 3 ton, but the extra lift capacity and height convinced me to go with the 4 ton. Its a heavy *******, but has worked great on the Jeeps.

I recently got the low profile 3 ton jack and it was GTG right out of the box. Only have used it a couple of times but a excellent buy.

Yeah 4 ton is overkill for me. My truck weighs 5500 pounds and you don't jack the whole truck up at one time obviously. 3 ton is all i need.

I think its only a $10-20 difference. Never know when the extra one ton may save you. Plus like Jason stated, it lifts higher then the 3 ton.

I don't need 4 tons it gives you an extra 1 3/4" lift height yes but not needed for me. Plus it weighs 100 pounds the 3 ton is 68 pounds. And the price is $120 for the 4 ton. For the 3 ton I'll pay $75 out the door.

Had mine for about a year now weekend diy and love it. I've never had a jack with the rapid pump and would never think about going back now. No issues with it that's for sure.

I bought the 3 ton low profile

about..three months ago..I had to put about 4 ounces of hydraulic fluid in the fill hole when "setting it up for use".

My son purchased the

for me. I have used this once just to see how it will work. I jacked my full size Chevy pickup truck and raised both front and rear wheels at the same time. This is going to be a nice set up for me. I used a Craftsman 1-1/2 ton I have had since the seventies to raise my vehicles for tire rotation, oil changes, etc. I know one time use is certainly not long enough to really believe this is a dependable set-up. It really did seem like a very solid jack...time will tell.

My father in law bought me the 3 ton last year for Christmas, so far it has been great, lifts my 1 ton dually and my 3/4 ton diesel trucks up just fine, I like how quickly it raises to the frame before lifting, so much faster than the 20 pumps it takes my 30 year old Craftsman 3 ton to get to the frame.

Only issue is that it seems that as I am lifting one pump will raise it an inch, then drop it 1/8". Acts as if it does have some air that needs to be bled out. I keep forgetting to bleed it though, that's probably all it needs, it functions great otherwise.

Used it the other week on my wife's SUV to do the "wobble test" to check wheel bearings/tie rod ends/ball joints. I only needed to raise the tire about 1" off the ground, and was not going to be climbing under so I didn't bother with jackstands. I got sidetracked with an emergency call and was gone for several hours, came back and it was still sitting the same 1" off the ground, no settling during that time, so that was comforting to see. Though on the same note, my 30+ year old craftsman 3 ton has been sitting under a crossmember on the frame of my project truck, holding it at the right "ride height" for well over a year now and hasn't settled either. Yea... I need to get back in the shop.

I've had my 3 ton harbor freight floor jack for about 10 years now. It's seen a LOT of use, and has not skipped one beat. It's lifted everything from a 2300lb BMW to a 5000lb Lincoln. Never had to add fluid or make any adjustments. A real workhorse. I bought two pairs of 3 ton jack stands at the same time and they have held up pretty much everything the jack has, also without drama.

I am 4 years too late in replying to this post, but, the check valves inside pump prevents air from going back inside. You will see bubbles coming out of fill hole on downstroke. Once bubbles stop coming out, thread plug back in hole a couple of threads and pump a few more times. This will assure that all air is bled out.
